I've posted before, as my new rescue Chubs was vomiting food overnight 2 days a few weeks ago. We made several changes and figured that we had fixed the problem (whatever it was!) but apparently not. He woke me up last night at 11:30 and we barely got any sleep at all! Tried Pepsid--didn't help. He was still coughing up spit when I left for work at 7:30, though my husband said he was better later this morning.

The fixes we tried were:
1. switched food from the beef/rice he's been on since vomiting 2 weeks ago, over a full week, so he is now on Fromm's duck and sweet potato kibble
2. added probiotic
3. just Saturday went back to adding fiber w/1 tablespoon of canned pumpkin w/each meal to try to treat persistant anal gland infection
4. added antihistimine drops 2x/day to treat phlegm in throat

My husband thinks that since he and his brother were in basement playing video games (and being loud) that the dog may have gotten excited or anxious while gated in the bedroom while I was sleeping. Could that make a dog throw up? We think it was the same situation the last time he vomited.

Our other obvious culprit is the canned pumpkin, so that's done for now.

What else makes a dog throw up? Same treats. Took away all rawhide/bully stick since last episode. I walked him yesterday and didn't see him get into anything odd. He is going to the bathroom normally. I want to have some ideas to offer the vet when we go tomorrow, since all of the things we tried since last time apparently didn't work. Ideas?

My girl lexi vomits alot. one time we took her to the vet b/c she literally vomited up a hair ball!!! vet suggested fishoil in her food.

She still gets sick every once and a ahile (same thing usuallu in the middel of the night??) we have yet to put our finger on it. changed her food changed treats not much helped. we have been super happy lately b/c she seems to be doing better now. and she has been eating her whole meal at meal time.

someone once suggested to me to feed her more often so she doesnt get that yucky tummy feeling of being hungry but she doesnt like to eat and never has been food driven... so we put food down and she ignores it.

I would be curious what others think bc i am in a similar situation whith my pup

I think there could be many reasons a dog would vomit, from eating or drinking too fast, to eating something they shouldn't (maybe getting to the stuffing in a pillow, injesting raw hide which is NOT good for them, etc.), to perhaps more on the medical side (i.e., same reasons humans have issues with keeping food down). I would consult with your vet. Maybe cut down on all the things you are trying. And yes, I do think that over excitement or anxiety could produce some vomiting, although probably wouldn't be a large amount.
