Oh thank goodness! Some lady at an ice cream shop was looking at my dogs, and she said that the white one should've been culled from the litter. She said it really nasty like my baby should've been bludgeoned for being the wrong color.

Trace doesn't even know that she's a dog, as a matter of fact she saw her reflection in the window last night and freaked!

Well it is a large misconception, so it is feasible this woman meant the incorrect definition towards your boxer. I have learned to never understimate the stupidity or rudeness of strangers :(

Wich IMO, if she meant the wrong definition she should have been culled by the proper definition ;) The less of her type the better!

Just an observation to this comment:

" Again, this is purely hypothetical because I don't for a second believe the AKC will allow the breeding of whites in my lifetime! "

AKC does allow the breeding of whites as long as they have full registration.

No they do not.

If you dont mind my asking, where did you hear this? Hear this now and then, and just wondering where people get this wrong info.

AKC DOES ALLOW IT.

BY REGISTERING THE OFFSPRING OF WHITE PARENTS WITH FULL REGISTRATION - THEY ARE ALLOWING IT.

-In order for a litter to be eligible for registration, the sire (Father/stud dog) and the dam (Mother/bitch) must be individually AKC registered and the litter must be whelped in the United States. -

I HAVE NOT BEEN MISINFORMED IN ANY WAY. I AM CAREFUL OF ANYTHING I DO SAY. I WOULD NOT POST SOMETHING I KNEW NOT TO BE CORRECT.

(Moderator's cap on......nmac, please do not type in capitals & please restrict signatures to 5 lines...... O.K. that said :) )

O.K. From what I understand of the AKC & the ABC I think nmac is right & this issue is often misunderstood.

http://www.akc.org/registration/index.cfm
from the AKC
There is a widely held belief that "AKC" or "AKC papers" and quality are one and the same. This is not the case. AKC is a registry body. A registration certificate identifies the dog as the offspring of a known sire and dam, born on a known date. It in no way indicates the quality or state of health of the dog.
It is up to the breeder (or breeders as maybe the case) to determine what type of registration is given for any litter, as in Limited or Full Registration.
Only responsible breeders who follow the ABC's Code of Ethics which prohibits the breeding of whites will register whites on a Limited Registration which prevents the AKC registering any future litters involving those dogs.
The unethical breeder can choose to give any dog, white or otherwise, whose sire & dam are both registered with the AKC Full Registration because they do not follow the ABC's Code of Ethics.
also from the AKC as quoted above by nmac
In order for a litter to be eligible for registration, the sire (Father/stud dog) and the dam (Mother/bitch) must be individually AKC registered and the litter must be whelped in the United States.
Basically there is no rule in the U.S.A. that prevents the breeding of white boxers.
It is purely against the ABC's Code of Ethics.

This can be found at www.dictionary.com, so it does not mean kill in America according to this source (the one I use, since the website is so easy to remember). Another moderator has seen this definition posted by me before and agreed it was correct and where happy to see me dispel this myth, so this is becoming confusing, hoping to hear more on it. The link to the thread referenced: http://www.boxerworld.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=28487&highlight=Cull

As for allowing whites to be breed, I stand corrected. I went all over the site and could not find it. I am hoping to hear by more knowledgeable posters then myself on this topic. I must say, I picked up this train of thought here on BW, so I am interested to hear this discussed out.

Cull does not mean kill. Please check out this thread for a better understanding.

Well according to the Oxford English Dictionary one of it's meanings is to kill.
Perhaps dictionary.com is not as concise as dictionary.oed.com
I know that to cull is a commonly used term here in Australia, particularly in regard to culling (killing off) over populated areas of kangaroos, horses, rabbits, foxes etc. etc.

(P.S....I apologise for getting off topic.)

One of the definitions of cull means to kill, yes. One of the definitions of cull means simply to remove from a population (in this case, the breeding population). Both are correct. However, on this site, when people talk about culling white Boxers, they are talking about removing them from the breeding population and not about killing them. Clear enough?

Now - as to breeding whites. I meant to say "ABC." :o

The AKC does not "allow" anybody to breed anything. They simply register the offspring of two registered parents of the same breed. They do not, by their own admission, have anything to do with quality, correctness of the dogs, or ethics. AKC registration means nothing on its own, it is the reputation of the breeder behind the dog that gives it meaning.

The ABC does not allow whites to be bred, sold, or registered (even on a limited registration). And in fact, a limited registration would be impossible for an Ethical breeder to obtain, since whites cannot be included in the count on a litter registration (so there would be no individual registration papers for the whites). Whites can obtain an ILP number to be eligible to compete in AKC events other than conformation.
