Where would you live?

DH spends almost all of his waking moments thinking and chatting about retiring. Like many who work for a local municipality, he is determined to move out of town at least, most likely out of state when he retires. He's not open to leaving the US.

We haven't traveled very much...yet. Doing a bit more of that. But, all of this has me seriously thinking, if you had your choice of living anywhere at all in the US, where would you prefer to live and why is that the place you would choose?

In the US, it would be Sugarloaf, Maine or Denver. In my "if I ever won the lotto dreams," it would Leysin, Switzerland. I love it in either 3 places.

Well I like in the UK, and i can tell you if i could live anywhere it in the WORLD it would be North East USA, in Maine to be exact. The beauty and hills are just out of this world, great for dogs and painting (I am an artist). My hubbie and I have spend a lot of time touring off the beaten track and we just love it - I would be there in a heartbeat.

Why does everyone want to live in Maine??? It's really not that great.....we have 4 seasons though: cold (aka fall), colder (aka winter), mud season (aka spring), and buggy (summer).

I would love to live in the northwest USA or Ireland (I can dream :D).

In the winter my husband and I dream of moving to Florida and in the Summer of moving to Maine! :D But I think eventually we will end up moving to Maine. We both love the area around Bar Harbor. However, I grew up in Germany and I wouldn't mind spending a few more years in Europe either!

I think my favorite place to vacation has been Arizona, but I've not been there during the summer, so I can't say that would be THE place just yet. We're in St Petersburg, FL right now and I could easily imagine being here year round, too. More than likely, though, we'll stay where we are, in south eastern Pennsylvania.

I have lived in Minnesota all of my life. It is beautiful and a great place to raise a family. That being said, I'm sick and tired of the cold, never ending winters. Our cold weather can start as early as late September and our "spring" doesn't get here until late May. So if I could live anywhere I'd chose Hawaii - even tho I've never been there!

i totally TOTALLY agree !! love Michigan but we only have 3 seasons -snow ( winter ) mud ( spring ) and orange season ( road construction) and i grew up in fla and NC i would def have to g back to NC - 4 seasons - mtns - incredible fall season and winter is like spring in MI summers get hot - but not so hot u cant get out and enjoy them ! and its just pretty ( ohh and u can order SWEET tea at ANY food place - and wait for it ...... they made it with tea bags , not powder , and has REAL sugar in it !!!
