Where would you go and why?

One of my friends was asking me this today, when you retire or if you could retire now with your dogs and spouse of course where would you go?? This is not a fantasy question this is real. I want to live out in the country where I couldn't see my neighbours for the trees with about 50 or more acres in an old farm house or log cabin, where the dogs could run free. No ignorant people, no noise except for the birds. This is my dream retirement.

I would love to move to ireland because I have heritage there and i could spend my days researching my family tree, or sitting in the fields on the fiords watching the ocean.

Living inthe country would be nice. I just want to havea nice house with a BIG yard that I can garden, have a pool, a pond with a stream or little lake to put koi in. Somwhere the dogs can freely roam.

I would want to go somewhere warm because I hate the cold, somewhere in a not huge house but with a huge well done garden that I could enjoy year round... (I say this staring out my office window at the snow and the prospect of going into -25 weather all week :( ) I would also like to be near a city, because I love checking out cafes and museums, movies, bookstores, and things like that, but not necessarily living in a city. I think I would prefer living in a smaller town outside of a city, where there is lots of community activity and stuff to do... (and big lots for my big garden!) I think it would be like Victoria or Comox (on Vancouver Island) or if I could have my DREAM, Tuscany or something like that :D .

Given that, retirement is a LONG way off for me, I am not even finished school yet!

It would definately have to be somewhere warm. No more snow for me. Someplace where the ocean is near by. I find watching the waves so peaceful and relaxing.

I would want to go somewhere warm too. And definitely near the water--either the ocean or a lake (my own private one, of course!). In my dream world, I would have two places, because I love the country and the solitude it offers but I also love the city and the culture it offers.

I would go to St. Pete's Beach in Florida!!! I fell in love with that place the first time I visited there.

Well, I truly hate the cold but Canada is where I would stay. I would love to live in or around Bobcaygeon or Buckhorn Ontario. It's all beautiful wilderness surrounded by lakes and rivers. The colors in the fall would take ones breath away! My ex's mother lives in Bobcaygeon in a cottage home with the backyard facing the river. In the winter when the river freezes over, you see the deer crossing the river coming into the yard to feed. In the summer, you fish right off the dock in the backyard or take the boat out onto the river. Night time fishing is awesome, but sometimes the beaver can scare the heck outta ya when they slap their tails on the water beside the boat!! Otters entertaining you with their funny water acrobatics! Loons on the river at night with the most amazing sunsets...ahhhh yes! Soooo peaceful with plenty of room for the doggies to explore!
