I'll have to second the vote for Provo, Turks and Caicos. The islands aren't lush and tropical, but the water is spectacular.

Greece, Monaco & Switzerland - not just Greece!

Hello,

In a previous post, I said Greece was the most beautifu pace I've ever visited. At the time, 2001, it was the most beautiful place I had visited.

I've recently returned from a 2 week European Vacation (March '04) and I no longer consider Tolo, Greece to be the most beautiful place I've ever visited. It is definitely one of the most beautiful places. Monaco and Switzerland are giving Greece stiff competition. Take a look at some of my pics, you might agree. I absolutely love them all and cannot choose JUST one.

After viewing the above link, I realize the last 3 or 4 pics at the end are pictures of the Palace in Monaco. I apologize for it not being in order. Enjoy!

Costa Rica.... There are monkeys in trees like we see birds in trees, everything is so natural ( big reason why CR is a 3rd world country is the way they protect their natural resources, ex. you have to have a permit to cut down ANY tree) Altough most citizens there are not fond of people from the U.S., the guide we hired was WONDERFUL, ther is the ARenal Volcanos, The natural hotsprings, Mount Verde etc etc etc. I would recommend this "vacation" to anyone who wants to see beauty, learn and walk (alot) LOL

It all depends on what you're looking for....everyone defines beauty in a different way. Are you thinking of natural beauty, or man-made beauty (buildings)? People find beauty in different things--the complexity or architecture of a building, the simplicity of a desertscape, the beauty of turquoise-blue-yet-clear water, the sight of waves crashing onto the shore....

Italy is stunningly beautiful. And if you go to a city like Rome, it is amazing in its own right--all of the history of those buildings is truly incredible. And the buildings themselves are beautiful because they are all so detailed. I think the fact that they have stood for so long makes them beautiful as well.

Spain--again, the buildings are amazing. If you are into buildings, you will love it. And the people are beautiful in their own unique way.

Germany--one of my favorites. It is absolutely gorgeous! I especially like the Rhein/Mosel area. There are numerous beautiful, old castles along the Rhein, set into hillsides that are covered with vineyards.

The Caribbean is also gorgeous--you cannot beat the white sands, absolutely turquiose water, and palm trees waving in the breeze (well, except maybe in Tahiti....). And most of the Caribbean is like this, though I am partial to St. Maarten.

And don't forget that the U.S. has some beautiful areas too.... the shorelines of Maine and California, the Pictured Rocks shoreline in Michigan, the waterfalls in Yosemite....

The list is pretty endless, IMO.

Abroad: Dominican Republic
Within the US: Charleston, SC

By far, the DR is much more beautiful than Charleston... but it's a tropical island and not immediately accessible for everyone. I may be a bit biased since I've only been out of the country once! I highly recommend visiting Rainbow Row and Battery Park in Charleston. Just make sure if you visit in the summer to dress for hot, humid weather. If you're not accustomed to the heat, you'll wilt like delicate flower after 15 minutes of walking. ;)

I would have to say the Sequoia national park. We went to this rock that is above the park and the view was gorgeous. I was a little afraid of my kids being up there because all there is to guard you from falling is a hand rail. Needless to say I didn't stay up there very long because of that. But it was the most beautiful view I have ever seen.

Ok, I'm going to sound pathetic but up until Sept of last year the only places I'd been where the states of Kansas/Missouri/Oklahoma. I happen to live close to the state line of KS and MO so that's a given and I only went to OK to visit my sister while she was in college in Tulsa. So when I say where I thought was the most beautiful place I've visited it's very limited so don't laugh. :) So in sept. I got to visit my sister in Seattle WA. While there we took a ferry to Victoria, Canada. So that is were I think is the most beautiful place I've been. It was perfect weather! Plus I just loved being able to walk everywhere. We stayed at the cutest cottage that was part of a bed and breakfast there is town. Everyone was so polite! I'm sure if I get to travel anymore in my lifetime I'm sure I'll say something else is just as beautiful or even more so, but Victoria will still be as special since it was my first out of US trip.

I was very lucky that I used to work for a cruise company. I took a cruise down the Amazon River - got to stop at the little villages along the way, danced until the sun came up at a Lambada Club...it was incredible. I also got to travel to the Canadian Rockies. Stayed at the Banff Springs Hotel, Jasper Park Lodge, and Chateau Lake Louise. I would go back to the Rockies in a heartbeat! A few years ago, I went to Belize. It is sooo beautiful! White sand beaches and crystal clear turquoise water....lush jungle.....Mayan Ruins....second biggest barrier reef in the world....it was the most incredible place I've ever been :)
