Where do you take your dog?

Farley just goes to the pet store with us, and of course on visits to friends'/relatives' homes. I have heard that Home Depot allows pets, but Far is still young and rambunctious, and I know he would 'cause a scene.' Maybe one day I will take him to Bloomingdale's, like the rich women who bring in their Yorkies and westies.

Unfortunately, I do not think he will fit in a Vuitton bag!

First Real Field Trip

We have a nine week old boxer named Ranger (hubby was an Army Ranger for 20 years so we thought the name was a good fit!) and took him out on his first real field trips. We went to PetSmart to sign up for classes and of course everyone had to stop and pet Ranger and tell us how much they love boxers! Then we went to my youngest son's school for a quick walk, and then to Sonic for a bite to eat. We sat outside at Sonic next to the grass and Ranger had a great time watching everything around him. I was a little surprised that he was very apprehensive about walking into PetSmart. We had to carry him because he kept trying to back-up out the door!

We've taken Carley (almost 9 mos.) to Home Depot many times. Last weekend we took her to OSH, another home improvement store, and she's been to Dunn-Edwards paint store. We've also taken her to the Ford dealership a few times and to three different motorcycle shops. We've never had any problem (knock on wood) except the guys at one of the motorcycle shops complained because Carley seemed to like the girl that works there more than them! I even took her into a large office building a couple of months ago when I had to just pick up some paperwork and she got her first ride on an elevator.

Daisy goes with us to the pet store, the chiropractor Sheryl works for lets her come in, my dads business, there is a neurological doctor that my SIL works for that lets Daisy come in. To be honest with you, she is welcomed just about every where she goes.

Pete just got back from the tire store. They asked that he come again. Seems the whole shop loved on him. Pete has also been to the auto dealerships when work has been done on the cars. He is always welcome there.

Last night Pete and Jack and I went to the Dairy Queen. Pete had a doggie frozen treat while we ate DQ. Several little girls just had to pet him and of course, Pete was happy to oblidge. I think a well trained and good mannered and natured dog is welcome in many places.

We've also taken Cassius to Home Depot, and also Lowes. But Lowe's asks that the dog ride in the wagon :) It's pretty cute! He also goes to drop the human kids off at school everyday, and occasionally he'll go to our pediatrician's office (because she's got a boxer too). There's also a doughnut store where the owner loves to see Cassius, he brings his boxer girl to the store all day everyday. We take him to the beach every weekend, and also over to friends or relatives for BBQ's or dinner parties (casual one's). He pretty much goes every where that is dog friendly.

My dogs go with me aywhere I can take them. Now that its summer and warm out, I eat more frequently at places with outdoor seating that allow me to have my babies at my side. I take Roxy and Bru to the local Starbucks across the street from me. They like them there and have no issues with me bringing them inside the store. Blockbuster video here also allows dogs but I have only brought Roxy in a couple of times. Of course the pet stores are always a group outing. I try to take the pups with me whenever I can, I love for people to see how great they can be and I love the socialization in new situations that it gives them.

ANYWHERE and EVERYWHERE Diego's welcome :D!

Other than family & friends' homes and petstores, he's been to my workplace, my mother's salon, local bookstore(s), my favorite yarn shop, coffee shops, auto repair, parts & tire shops, Home Depot/Lowes/local hardware stores, shuttle bus (to my cousin's soccer tournament), Canada, a friend's sailboat, camping, a pizza joint, outdoor mall and sometimes tethered just outside while I'm at the painting-it-myself ceramic studio, and most recently at my mom's rehab center while recooperating from surgery. The staff adored him :p!

That's all I can think of right now and hopefully we'll finish & pass therapy dog certification so we can particpate in the "Reading with Rover" program offered by our local library system and Barnes & Nobles. And sometime soon I'll treat him to a luxury type hotel for some R&R lovicon!

It's truly been a blessing to live in a dog friendly city! ~ Lisa

Where Don't I take her?

My policy is mainly if Cookie's not allowed I don't go. :D But there are of course exceptions, I don't take her to the groecery store or if I am planning a day long shopping trip. I do take her with me to the Italian market several times a week, the dog park at least 3x's a week and every day we drive her Daddy to work and then pick him up in th evening. Cookie loves to go to South St., while most of the stores don't allow her in, if one of us humans wants to go in the other stays outside with her so she can "people watch", one of her favorite hobbies! :D Cookie is happiest when she is with us, and I try to do my best to accomadate her!

kpdangermouse> We need to meet some afternoon for some shopping and lunch @ the Italian Market!

Everywhere

We take Mush everywhere. She especially loves to go to Petsmart. And they all know her now, so she gets lots of lovin and treats. And she loves to go to Starbucks and sit outside while I have my coffee. Oh, and anywhere there are kids. She loves to go to the playground. She thinks children are her personal play toys. She even likes going to the gas station with me. Loves riding in the car. She's like hanging with a buddy for me. I love being out with her cause contrary to how she behaves in the house, she's an absolute angel when we go out. Except for one thing....she picks the worst times to do a drool shake......
