Just curious about some of the places that you take your dog with you on a regular basis.

What sort of business's allow dogs nowadays? I have heard that unless there is a sign posted stating "no pet's" that most places are fair game for dogs on leashes. Too good to be true?

I don't want to leave my dog in the car even for short trips to the bank etc....and would love to be able to have her go in stores with me aside from the pet stores.

Just wanted to get some ideas.

Thanks,
Susi & Cami

As for public places, Reno has only been in pet stores and to work with me everyday. As you can see I am very busy at work. ha ha I work at a construction office & for most of the day it's just me & my Reno. I love my job!!!!

Yes, as far as the sign goes, that is just too good to be true... for instance, most of the places I go out to eat at don't have any type of signs on the doors but I KNOW an animal would not be allowed in a place that served human food. Of course except for certified assistance animals.

I don't take my boxer or mixed breed really anywhere.
But my Bichon Frise has been many places, she fits into a tote bag! ;)
She has been to petstores, HomeDepot, Lowes, and to a couple large shopping plazas in Gatlinburg.
She went in all the stores (in her bag) except for food places. ;)

We basically just take our babies to the pet stores. They do ride in the cars with us a lot...when we don't have to get out. They love going to school to pick up the girls. They get really excited to see all of the kids!

Evie & Adam pretty much go to grandpas, to grandmas, and the pet store. My mom, however, has a chinese crested that is a certified therapy dog. He gets to go EVERYWHERE!!! She has a tote bag for him. He has been to the grocery store, the hardware store, pet stores, even the mall. Mom said he really loved the mall!!

Pete goes to the pet stores of course. Today he went to the farm supply store with Jack to buy a hose end feeder for the grass. He goes to the Dairy Queen and custard stand in the summer when we can eat outside. We usually take a Frosty Paws for Pete as the ice cream and custard upset his tummy.

I have also seen dogs at a couple of outdoor dining establishments this summer. We've not tried that with Pete yet, but will soon. Pete goes to the nursing home with me to visit Dad if we do not go over a lunch or dinner hour. It would be too tempting for him with all these older people dropping food, though I think the facility would allow him with vet records.

I took Holden to a nursery on several occasions and no one said a thing. Haven't tried that with Pete yet. Last summer Pete went to the local Farmer's market and it worked well to socialize him. This year Carmel has a no dogs rule. We don't go anymore. Their loss.

one nice thing about living in a city, is there are quite a few resteraunts with outdoor seating that allow dogs. and these are nice places too!

a local independent video store also allows dogs on leashes. as do a few other independent boutique shops around town.

when jezebelle was a puppy, we could get away with taking her inside more stores...clothing stores, bookstores...and the best is the italian market, which is open-air, so dogs are welcome to stoll while you buy your produce :)

theres also a few bars around here that let in pooches...but i havent taken her, cause i think they are too smokey.

Hmmm

I take Sketch to work sometimes and we put a camoflaged bandana on his neck. With me being military, he is sort of like our unit mascot when he shows up for work and everyone loves him. Even my commander smiles a lot more when we bring Sketchy by.

The misses takes him to her work sometimes too. She works in a library and he is always a treat for the patrons, and especially the kids, who he is always so nice to. He never jumps up or anything and he makes everyone's day a bit brighter.

We take him to PetSmart AT LEAST once a week, and not just because that is where is classes are. We take him to the dog park just about as often, even though it is sort of a long drive. What are weekends for anyway?

Being that we are on a really HUGE base, we have a lot of walking trails and jogging paths, and we will takehim for walks out there sometimes. He never understands why people are running, or where they can be going in such a huury! :)

We just had this festival of the pet here in OK City and he loved that. We have little festival/events on base that allow us to bring pets, so we bring him. Also, once every few months,m the base pool has a day where people can bring their dogs. We will be taking him there when it comes up next month. I will also be taking him out to the 4th of July fun stuff we are having this year.

Basically, we take him everywhere. :)

Mugsy goes to Petsmart with me. I took him to school with me twice and he was great and loved it. We'll go visiting relatives. He went to a rugby game in West Virginia, and had a great time, except he was getting upset that no one would throw the ball to him. IF I run through the drive thru ber distributer he comes. Pretty much everywhere I go, he goes.

We take Titus and Chloe to pet stores and the park. The beach doesnt allow dogs anymore so we had to stop going there.
