Along this same line.....

I was wondering how one goes about breaking their dogs from sleeping in the masters bed - we currently have three full grown boxers and purchased a King Sized bed in hopes that this would help with the over crowding but it hasn't - three dogs in the bed has just become too much to handle.

We are getting ready to move into a new house and my plan is to start the dogs off sleeping in their crates in the new house - do you think this will be too detrimental to them???

They are just soooo spoiled right now and I really don't get very good sleep with them crowding us in the bed - I was hoping that they would adjust in a few days - what do you all think.

Thanks.

Titan's bed is in the living room since that's where we spend most of our daytime, plus he can see all main parts of the house from there where we usually are at. He sleeps at the foot of the couch at nights though, and spends part of the night in a separate room with our other dog. They usually both start out laying by the light of the fish aquarium- i dont know why, maybe it's like a "night light" for Titan, our other dog stays there usually all night because it helps him see things since his eyesight is failing. Titan rarely stays in my bed (unless I got a bedtime snack with me of course) longer than the duration of a movie or two. But he loves my bed, it's a king size waterbed and he loves to jump up and down on the water and try to jump on the waves, which bout throws me out and makes me seasick!! The only time he stays in my room is if I am sick then he stays right by my side all day and night.

Harry slept in his crate in the kitchen, BF was very strict that the dog should not be in our room. Until we stayed at my mums for the night and he slept with us on a mattress in the sitting room. Now he is in with us, half the time on the bed between us, or in his bed at the foot of ours.

Oscar isn't allowed in the bed. He was only allowed that privilege the first 2 weeks. He has a bed next to my other dogs bed on the floor next to the people bed. But about 3-5 times a week I still wake up and he is sleeping next to me on my bed. Sometimes he sneaks out of the my bed before I can catch him and tell him no. But most of the time he wakes me up by kicking me. LOL

Mya starts on the floor with half her body under the bed. I say only half because that is all that will fit anymore. By morning she has found her big pillow on the floor next to our bed. We think she goes under the bed because we leave the tv on while we fall asleep and she can get away from the light and noise. Once someone gets up and goes to work then she knows she can climb in bed!

I let Roxy sleep in the bed with me. The main reason (or reason I justify it to myself) is with having fosters coming in and out, I only allow Rox on the bed. This lets her know that she is still special. It's our little thing. But, she slept in the bed with me before I started fostering, but now it means more to me. When Ruckus is around, he prefers to sleep on the floor, right beside the bed. But, Roxy is my little snuggle bug and so cute because she has to lay her head on a pillow, too. It's so sweet.

Chaos sleeps at the bottom of the bed with us. He starts out sleeping at bottom of the bed to my right not to far away from my feet, but it seems as the night wears on he takes up more and more of our king size bed. In the morning I wake up with him in the middle of the bed sleeping north to south instead of east to west. I know he can sleep in a curled up position, I've seen him do it, but it seems that he likes to stretch out in our bed. In fact I just told DH the other night that as much as we would like to have a sister for Chaos I don't think we have enough bed for 2 boxers. :)
