when to switch from puppy to adult?

I changed Star onto adult food at between 5 and 6 months.

As soon as we brought my puppies home (8 wks) my vet told me to put them on a good quality adult food. Puppy food usually has a lot of "extras" that aren't necessarily good to maintain health joints--my vet wanted us to slow down their growth as much as possible. They didn't suffer and are both perfect weight.

We feed BARF, so when Courage came home to us we had her finish her food from the breeder and put her right on chicken wings and backs... She is of better health than her brother who didn't start BARF until he was 1 year old...

But can you imagine having to go find a puppy formula for BARF??? :p
