Boxer Insane
I agree with everyone else, if you want to add "special" things to your babies food, then it is fine. Try browsing through the BARF forum and see some of the additives that they recommend for raw food diets.
I do have a couple of comments though.
1. If you do add things to the kibble, be sure you account for that in the amount of kibble you feed. I have an overweight boxer and every time i add "cheese" i take out an equivalent amount of kibble, thereby keeping her caloric intake accepable for her activity level. which is the main thing, if they are a healthy weight then you are feeding the right amount, if they are slightly over, well either more exercise or less food.
2. RE: your question about raw meat, there is a special raw food diet and homecooked diets. Andif i am wrong please correct me, but in cooking foods (esp vegatables) you loose some of the nutrients and vitamins. i believe cooked meats are fine, but you need to be careful again about the caloric intakes and additives that may be in the marinades used for cooking.
I swear my dog eats better and healthier than i do! :D as i sit here eating a chimichange LOADED with cheese and a donut!
3. I feed my girl Nutro Natrual Choice and it is not a bad kibble, i was under the impression that it is on the bottom of the "high quality" list, but it is on it!
it is the ingredients you need to watch, again a healthy balance of the right nutrients and vitamins is key
Good Luck and hope my ramblings havent confused you :)

Ours get fed twice a day @ 6:30 am after daddy goes to work and then around 5:30 pm. Pooh is a picky eater, too. If I add " good stuff " to her food, then she doesn't want regular the next  So, if she won't eat,it gets picked up. She has 15 min. to make up her mind :) You could probably start Nina on the adult food now,or is she already on it? Ours are on Chicken Soup
and they love it.
Good Luck :)

Well..Well.Well

Guess what...after not eating much for brkf ...and not much for lunh since i did not add in....i took her for a walk in the snow with the kids...she had a blast...anyways we get home and she started pawing at her can of kibble i keep next to her crate....now its around 5...so i said to her...HMMM i guess you are finally hungry????
I put 2 cups of kibble with water...she only left a bit behind...then afterwords i gave her 1tbs of yogurt for dessert.
I am not saying she is " cured " of her being picky....we will see how tomorrow goes....i guess it is true that a dog will not starve itself
I am still tossing the idea of putting things in the kibble...i do appreaciate all the advice....and my breeder suggested i keep her on the puppy one for at least 8 months
thanks again

Completely Boxer Crazy
Luka gets bored easy. He is 5 months next week (can't believe it) and he eats twice a day. His breeder fed him Chicken Soup, I kept w/ that, but he just didn't seem interested (plus he had gas and not solid stools). I switched to Canidae and he likes that better- probably because it's new and different. I have been adding to his food for awhile. I'm with the others- if that's how you feel comfortable and it makes your pup happy, then as long as it's healthy, who cares?
I give Luka Prairie wet food or Cottage Cheese, he LOVES applesauce, I crumbled up a cornbread muffin this morning- which he loved! He's not too fond of yougurt and canned Salmon made him VERY sick. I haven't given him tuna, but do give him lightly steamed veggies- scrambled egg went over well too. I have some canned chicken to try soon and I also use the 98% fat free, less sodium beef and chicken broth (microwaved).
I think it's so funny when he looks up and has cottage cheese all over his face!

Super Boxer
I feed Natural Balance to Abby and it is available at Pet Valu and many other premium stores in Ontario. She has done very well on it. We switched her to 2 feedings a day earlier then suggested because she is not a big eater. With the Natural Balance, you don't have to feed as much either. They do not have a puppy formula but it is not needed. Abby is 15 months and gets
1 1/2 cups twice a day. She gets fed at around 8 a.m. ish and 5 p.m. ish. It seems as though you are feeding 2 cups 3 times a day. I don't think you would have to feed your puppy that much with the NB. Anyway, good luck.
