Boxer Insane
I agree with everyone else, if you want to add "special" things to your babies food, then it is fine. Try browsing through the BARF forum and see some of the additives that they recommend for raw food diets.
I do have a couple of comments though.
1. If you do add things to the kibble, be sure you account for that in the amount of kibble you feed. I have an overweight boxer and every time i add "cheese" i take out an equivalent amount of kibble, thereby keeping her caloric intake accepable for her activity level. which is the main thing, if they are a healthy weight then you are feeding the right amount, if they are slightly over, well either more exercise or less food.
2. RE: your question about raw meat, there is a special raw food diet and homecooked diets. Andif i am wrong please correct me, but in cooking foods (esp vegatables) you loose some of the nutrients and vitamins. i believe cooked meats are fine, but you need to be careful again about the caloric intakes and additives that may be in the marinades used for cooking.
I swear my dog eats better and healthier than i do! :D as i sit here eating a chimichange LOADED with cheese and a donut!
3. I feed my girl Nutro Natrual Choice and it is not a bad kibble, i was under the impression that it is on the bottom of the "high quality" list, but it is on it!
it is the ingredients you need to watch, again a healthy balance of the right nutrients and vitamins is key
Good Luck and hope my ramblings havent confused you
