Great topic. We take our decorations down either New Years Eve or New Years Day. We did it all on New Years Eve this year. We put it up around Thanksgiving, so by now we are sick of looking at them. I do leave my snowmen collection out through the winter.

All my decorations are put away the day or two after christmas. I love how clean and organized everything looks after all the clutter from christmas is gone, however I leave my tree (real) up for quite awhile after christmas (not lit up though).. When it's time to take it down, it will be put outside until the spring for the birdies to hide in.. I like to cover pinecones in peanut butter and sprinkle seeds on it then hang on the tree for the critters. My family always said it's bad luck to take the tree down before the new year......Outside, just my icicle lights stay until after Valentines day (after all we get snow in Pa. up until April)..

Ever since we got married and had our own tree (6 years) I've put it up Thanksgiving and took it down New Years Day. But this year my tree is still up and it didn't get put up until December 2nd since we were out of town for Turkey day. I guess I'll get to it this weekend...maybe...

Mine too. I am off for 6 days starting that weekend so down come the decorations and a good house cleaning.

We usually take ours down the weekend after Christmas. By then, the needles have littered the living room floor and I'm worried about the fire hazard of a dried Christmas tree. This year we took it down a little earlier because Scrapper starting getting hives and I was wondering if the tree might have something to do with them. But I left up some of the decorations because they look kind of festive and I didn't want to totally purge my house of Christmas yet.

My mom always said that you had to take your decorations down by 12th Night or it was back luck.

Judging by the way stores put Christmas decorations up earlier and earlier each year, we should probably just leave them up.
