When do you put away your Christmas decorations?

I've decided to do something new this year. I'm going to take down all my Christmas stuff (including the tree) in January! I'm a serious procrastinator, plus I love all my Christmas decorations, so I usually wind up taking it all down in February. I think last year we took the tree down on Valentine's Day so that we could build a fire in the fireplace without catching the dead tree on fire. One year I left my Christmas village (the little lighted houses) up until July. And I leave my Christmas dishes in the china hutch all year long.

I doubt anyone is as bad as I am, but when do you take it all down and put it away?

The day after new year's, because I'm still home from work. I put out my snowmen then so it isn't such a big withdrawal from the Christmas decorations.

We took down all our stuff yesterday. I hate to see all the Christmas stuff go but it's also nice to get the house back in order :)

January 6th (12 days after Christmas)

That's when the tree comes down and all the outside decorations. I'll start putting up some of the ones in the house today and this weeked. That way I'm not overwhelmed with doing it all in one day.

I like to do it while listening to Christmas music, too. Somehow it doesn't make it seem so depressing. Especially since the Christmas season was a week shorter this year because of Thanksgiving being late. And I LOVE the holidays - so I feel a little cheated!

Usually the weekend after Christmas. But we took everything down yesterday. Couldn't stand the clutter anymore! (and of course not being able to get to my computer's keyboard!)

Here in Philadelphia, christmas trees that are put out at the curb between Jan 3rd and Jan 17th will be recycled, so i am shooting for that time frame. I'll take everything down the same day.

As far as my neighbors are concerned...NEVER....last July i had to put on my black sweat suit and ski mask and cut down their hanging 'icicle' lights from their porch...i couldn't take it anymore...christmas was 6 month away (in both directions), i think they forgot about them and left them up....it wouldn't have been so bad if they didn't turn them on and they were just hanging(they would still be tacky looking but hey, it's their house), BUT these hanging icicle lights were on a timer and the light from them would shine into my bedroom window and keep me awake (i had the windows open and the blinds up since it was summer)

....I had to cut them down, i just had to. I did the whole neighborhood a favor...next summer i'm gonna cut their lawn for them too (since they tend to neglect that too)... if they don't wake up to the sound of a drunk me cutting their lawn at 3am...i'm golden
