Boxer Booster
What's the scariest thing you and your baby have had to overcome?
About 3 days after we got Capone, the kids and I took him outside with us. I was watching him roam and he squatted so I looked away to check on the kiddos. Meanwhile DH had left to the store. When I called for the kids to come in Capone followed. He kept coughing. I bent down and picked him up to discover that he had swallowed a baited hook and some fishing line. I tried to see if I could get it out but I couldn't. And of course this was at 6 p.m. so the vet was closed. I begin making phone calls. I take the kids and the puppy and jump in the car barefoot. We drive the 25 miles away to the pet hospital. (Thank God above for those people.) So DH gets there before the Dr. does. We know by this point that Capone has swallowed a regular fish hook (not a treble hook TG,) and about 3 inches of fishing line (maybe less but not more.) They put him under General Anesthesia and put a scope down his throat. They tell us that we can pay the $650 dollars up front and they can cut him open and remove the hook, or we can wait 2-3 days while feeding him bread and rice and see if it passes on it's own. After the 2-3 days passes and the hook doesn't then we have to go for the surgery. We chose to wait and see if it passed on it's own. Which off the record the vet suggested.
Well as you can guess that was a nerve wracking 3 days! But everytime he went, mommy was right there to see if a hook was in it.
I bet he thought we were some crazy people.
By the second day the hook passed and he was none the worse for wear. After the hook passed the Vet gave him a clean bill of health. :D
