I'm in the market to buy a new vacuum. I cleaned my carpets last night and realized how poorly my vacuum was doing. Just curious as to what boxer owners use and which ones they feel does the best job picking up dog hair. Buster sheds quite a bit and I have a long haired cat so I need one that really does the job. I'm open to any suggestions! Thanks!!! :)

We got a Bissell Lift Off Revolution about 6 months ago. There is a sticker on it that says "made for homes with pets". I think it works very well, but I'm comparing it to my old ancient vacuum that wasn't doing a very good job. The 'Turbo Brush' often gets jammed and doesn't clean very well, but just using the wand with the regular brush does a good job in corners and on furniture.

For years I was terrible on vacuum cleaners. No matter what I would buy I killed them. Price didn't matter!

I broke down and bought a Dyson. The yellow one for all floor surfaces.

That was about 3 years ago and it still works like it did on the first day. I can't say enough good things about it.

FYI....The "purple" Dyson (or Animal) is the same MINUS a specific "pet hair attachement", however the cost is much higher. You can buy the attachement for less than $100 online.

I also have a cat and the one I have picks up any hair that it heads towards plus a whole lot more!

Only ONE negative about mine. For some reason it will make a HORRIFIC noise every once in a while. I can't figure it out for the life of me. Once you turn it off and start it back up the noise is gone. It seems as if you have sucked something up and it is clogging it but YOU ARE NOT. I don't know what the issue is but have heard that others machines do it as well.

I second the Dyson. I absolutely LOVE mine. I have the “animal” and the attachment for cleaning the couch is amazing. Dog hair on the couch drives me CRAZY so that was the number one thing I bought this vacuum for. Of course it’s also amazing for the floors too.

I read reviews on Amazon and others mentioned this noise problem. I remember them saying that the problem can be easily fixed by removing a washer or other small part underneath the vacuum. The reviews on Amazon said they just called the customer service number and the representative that answered was able to walk them through the process of fixing the problem.

I have a Bissell which seems to work wonderfully, the canister is always full of animal hair, and dirt... like dust or some fine particles... I love it, but I'm like others, I'm comparing it to my ancient monster vacuum that obviously hasn't worked well for a long time, altho I thought it had...lmao

We have ceramic tile througout te house and are still using a shop vac. It works well, but gets to your back after a while. I plan to step up to the Dyson Animal, but I am waiting just a bit longer.
