Hey guys -
I have had a HORRiBLE DAY! Me and Mark both woke up on the wrong side of the bed, so he ended up going to play golf while I attempted to run errands. To back track a bit, a couple of days ago, Asia and Mark and I were outside and we had the retractable leash with us - well Asia saw a squirrell and ran like crazy and (lucky me) I got caught in the middle. The retractable part of the leash wrapped around my legs and gave me some pretty painful cuts that are just beginning to heal.

So, today, Asia and I were walking outside and my jeans were irritating my cuts so I was walking slow, and my clumsy self fell down a step and landed straight on my left ankle. So, I had a twisted ankle. It hurt like CRAZY so I walked back inside my house and as I was turning around, I hit my elbow on the corner of our television and I bruise easily so ... yep, my elbow is a HUGe bruise now! So, I decided to stay in the house for a bitt and do stuff around there while waiting for the swelling on my ankle to go down. I went back outside to walk Asia and saw a friend of mine. I began to talk to her and I stepped backwards into a hole and twisted my right ankle!

Mark's mom jokingly told me that I forgot to eat my black eyed peas - which I did!!

I have a lot going on this week so is there any advice on how to make a swollen ankle or two go down quickly, or just the usual 'keep ice on it & keep it elevated'? I've never sprained my ankle before, nontheless both of 'em.

Any suggestions? At this point, anything will be appreciated!

Jeez... are you trying to take my "giraffe on rollerskates" title away from me??? That sounds exactly like something my clumsy self would do!!!!

Hope you're feeling better soon... I think your best bet is the rest and ice. Sprains can take a while, and make sure that you don't do ANYTHING to hurt it again while you're recovering or it will prolong your recovery period.

Everytime I have rolled an ankle I have always been told to RICE. Rest, ice, compress, and elevate. The doctors I have seen this is the only way to heal an ankle. I hope your ankles and elbow start to feel better in the next few days.

HAHA! You can have it back! I'd love to get rid of that at this point! When my best friend found out about my problems yesterday she told me I have always been a klutz - not ME foolicon!

Asia was freaked out last night because I slept with my foot on a pillow - and she loves pillows, so her head ended up with my foot last night, it was really cute ;)!

Yesterday I checked on the internet and I found them saying to RICE, but it never told me what that meant, so I had to ask Mark. So, I have been and will continue to do the RICE thing and hopefully I will be healed up sometime soon! :)

I find the an anti-inflammitory (sp?) like Advil or Motrin really helps me. I just stoved my toe on Thursday and I'm RICEing like mad. It only hurts when the Advil wears off. Good Luck!

Unfortunately there is no quick fix for a sprain. RICE, RICE, RICE. Tina is right that some pain killers can help a bit too, though. I find Aleve works the best for me.

I have it in an ACE ankle wrap thing, it makes it feel a ton better, it takes a lot of the pressure away when I'm just sitting around -- it has gotten better, but it still hurts to put a lot of pressure on it - the swelling has gone down just a bitt, but my ankle is still pretty big!!

I took some Advil earlier today because I had been walking around a bit (I have had a busy past couple of days that I couldn't really get away from) - it made it feel better!

Thanks for the RICE'ing suggestions - all of those techniques have really helped me. I'm doing it right now, actually...I just had to get on here, of course!! :D I should ((hopefully)) be better pretty soon - I can tell that all the RICE'ing has really helped!
