Boxer Insane
I was curious to hear what frightens Boxers out there. My Boxer girl has a very strange fear of storm drains. There is one on every street corner in my development and when we walk, Tae pulls away so we must walk in the middle of the road until we've turned the corner! I adopted her through a rescue group, so I don't know if she had a prior bad experience with a storm drain, but it's very mystifying. This is the only thing she seems to truly fear.

She also prances in front of, barks, and attacks the vacuum cleaner when I endeavor to vacuum up her hairs. I don't think she's afraid of the vacuum, but I'm not exactly sure how to categorize this behavior. She is fascinated by the vacuum cleaner's suction--i.e., when I use the "hose" to pick things up, I'll turn the hose on her paw or something (the suction is not ultra-stong) and she goes nuts (barks)!

My boxer girl Taya is also a 4-5 year old rescue. She's scared of the vacuum cleaner. She runs from it. She's scared of the rain. Well, I'm not sure she's exactly scared but she really hates it. She doesn't like/ is scared of baths too. Maybe she had a bad experience with water?

Holmes is afraid of kitchen garbage bags.......like when you shake it to open it up and put it in the garbage can.

He doesn't mind the vacuum, and most of the time I have to nudge him with it so he'll get up and move.

MMMM, that'a a good question, I haven't found anything Toby is afraid of yet, he thinks everything is a toy to him...

Layla's Mom

Layla is afraid of the baby gates we use to block off rooms--When she was very young, one of them fell on the kitchen tile-it was the wooden ones that make a lot of noise when they fall-and the noise scared her so much. A year later whenever I pick up one of the gates to move it she runs out of the room. She also will not go near one if her toy happens to fall near it--she will cry for me to retrieve it. I feel bad that she does not like them, but on the other hand, I feel comfortable that she would never jump a gate or a fence.

Kona is afraid of anything that makes a noise. And don't try to sneak up behind her. She nearly kills herself trying to get away from whatever it was that touched her. Like when we are walking, if a branch happens to brush up against her, she is nearly knocking me down to get away from there. She doesn't like garbage bags, and she hates when I make the clicking sound from my binder notebook. I'm glad I never tried to use the "clicker" training method on her.

My oldest boy is scared of balloons. I cant figure out why but we cant even bring a balloon in the house with out him running off like a little baby. He's not scared of anything else that I know of. In fact he acts like he is not scared of anything most of the time. But dont let him see a balloon he just freaks.

Like Taryn's Layla, Rocky is afraid of baby gates. When he was smaller, he and Princess where running after each other and happened to knock the gate down. Unfortunately the gate fell right on top of my little cone head :(
Since then, he will run out of the room if I get the gate to move it. And if his toys go by the he'll cry and whine until I get it for him  Other than that he's fine. He sees the vacuum as a toy or something, he'll do that play bow whenever I "try" to vacuum :D
