Oh i just read of Jake's relapse. I'm so sorry you all have to go through all of this. But I'm glad he is doing a little better. Tons of boxer healing vibes coming your way....

Home for the weekend

After 10 days in the hospital, Jake will be coming home tonight just for the weekend. His bloodwork numbers are heading in the right direction but unfortunately, Jake developed several complications with the liver failure - including blood clots on his lungs and pancreantitis. The pain meds have given him stomach ulcers as well. His liver will definately have permanent damage but the vet remains hopeful that Jake will improve and have a happy life. She thinks that his spirits will be lifted if he can be with us for a couple of days. She is sending Jake home tonight with several new meds and some IV fluids that we will have to administer throughout the weekend. Jake is also not able to stand on his own yet so he will have to be held up while going to the bathroom. Again, I asked her to please be honest when it's time to let him go. She wants to give him a couple of weeks before we start to consider that option. Jake is still just a baby - he just turned 2. My heart aches for him and I pray that we are not prolonging the inevidable. I know your prayers and love are helping - she said that Jake was "touch and go" for a while there, but seemed to keep fighting. Thanks for all of your thoughts.

My heart goes out to you. You have a mighty spirit in that boxer boy!! This weekend, there's going to be a whole lot of lovin' goin' on at your house, and I bet Jake will be so happy to be there with you all. We continue to send healing and hopeful vibes, and keep saying lots of prayers for Jake and his family. Hang in there and keep us posted.

My thoughts and prayers are with you and Jake. A weekend at home might be the best medicine for his spirits. Snuggle away and if the time comes that you have to say good-bye, Jake will tell you. You can see it in their eyes as well as feel what they are feeling. I pray that it doesn`t come to that and that you and Jake have many more years together.

I came upon this thread on 11-28 and have been checking it almost everyday. I am so sorry that you and Jake have had to go thru all of this. Although I am very hopeful and think about him every time I look at my two, I am almost afraid to ask how the weekend home went and what the status is now. I hope you have not posted because your time is being spent with Jake. When you are able, please let us know how everything is. I wish all of you peace of mind and of heart.
