My dogs will eat just about anything. They seem to REALLY LIKE red licorice as they don't leave me alone with I have it. Sam loves watermelon rind. Riley (chihuahua)likes to eat and roll in earthworms (that she's previously killed)- PPEEEEEUUUWWWWW!!I haven't given them ice - should try it - good & cheap summer treat.

Dan, I must agree with you when you say that you don't believe dogs should have people food. Our boxer is over a year old and he doen't even think twice when we are eating. Well, maybe twice but definately not three times :) I think he does sometimes get a whiff of some things and naturally wants to investigate. Something like burgers on the grill. In the summer time we do feed him ice cubes but that is just to help cool him down and I will occassionally give him peanut butter on one of his treats. That is only because the vet recommended it. He says that dogs could use the extra protein. One thing that I am extremely happy about is the fact that Oscar has NEVER chewed on anything that was not his....not the sofa, kitchen chairs, or shoes....Only HIS toys :D From what I hear, I must be fortunate!

Tedjax, My Oscar is just the opposite...he likes his canned food at room temperture. If you give it too him cold, right out of the fridge, he will not eat it until it warms up a bit. :)

When I began searching for a Boxer message board, I was distressed at what my Boxer, Harley, had just eaten and, has eaten once before....an entire bar of soap! I am in a way, relieved to find out he's not the only one. The first time he ate one, we called his vet who had never heard of such a thing. As for more "normal" items, Harley loves tomatoes (whats with Boxers and tomatoes although my Rottweiler loved tomatoes too), grapes, bananas, oranges, apples, strawberries, melon, and believe it or not, onion.

One of our dogs, Stetson loves peaches!
Not fresh peaches however, he prefers them from a can. All we have to say is "ya want some PEACHES Stets? And it's like we've given him a million bucks.
