This may seem like a strange topic, but I told my husband I'd ask!
Our dogs go potty on the side of our house, on grass. Can't remember what kind it is, but it's what our landscaper recommended, saying it was good for dogs to go potty on. (St. Augustine? I think that's it.)
We had a sprinkler pipe leaking under the grass for some time, making the ground extra wet, making the areas the dogs walked on the most muddy, causing the grass in those areas to die. The pipe is fixed now, but my husband is debating if we should replace the grass or put something else down.
I'm wanting to know if any of you have, or have heard of, using anything other than grass or dirt for dog's potty areas. My husband was talking about putting a bunch of sand down in a 6x6 area or something. I thought it sounded crazy, but then realized that's basically what cat's do. Except that's indoors. No rain. Seems like that would make a difference. Maybe not. I'll have to mention that to him!
Anyways, I told him I'd bring it up to you guys and see if you had any suggestions. I think going back to grass is perfectly fine and that's probably what we'll do, but any suggestions are welcome.
