The Zone anyone?

Maybe this is the support I need. Any advice would be great, here's my story:

I have always been a little bigger than the average girl, but not in a pudgy way, I was one of the taller girls in grade school and at 5'0" tall when I was in grade 5 I was 120 lbs. It was all muscle though. I danced about 5 days a week for at least 3 hours a day usually more like 4 hours on week days and closer to 6-8 hour days on the weekends, so all in all 20 or more hours of intense exercise a week (which in my mind is great) I did this up until I was 18 when I decided to move to England, I had gained a little weight and through high school I was 5'5 and 155 lbs again, hardly any body fat but noticebly bigger than everyone else :( When I moved to England I had no car so I walked everywhere and maintained my weight.. Well when I got back OH MAN! I gained weight at was up to 170lbs then I lost some and was happy around 160 although I dreamed of the smaller waist and wee hips (but that will never happen!) Last year in the spring I had gained some weight and as summer hit I started losing again and was back around 160 I was on cloud nine! I went from a size 13/14 to a size 9/10, everything looked good, I felt good, I was a little worried that I just started losing weight randomly but I got my physical and all was fine. So I went with it. In August 2003 my house burned down (family's house) and I lost everything including my 2 boxer babies :( My whole family was relocated to a hotel for a few months while we organized ourselves, we had access to the hotel restaurant and were told to "just sign it to the room" OMG NEVER sign it to the room! I noticed I gained a few pounds but wasnt overly concerned with it until I noticed that at 21 I had no "bedroom desire" my man was 19 at the time... not something he was too happy about. But he supported me and told me I was beautiful. Well it has been over a year now, I'm 22 years old, I have bought my own house, adopted 2 beautiful boxers and am still with my Chris who is now 20. He is so supportive but that man can eat and eat and eat. I quit smoking shortly after the fire, after smoking for 5 years I did really well for being able to quit cold turkey. I have had a few smokes (maybe 5) in the last year and its only when I am stressed right out! but I never have the urge to buy a full pack.

Going on, I am about 5'6 now but weigh 184!! ACK! I have never felt so un-attractive, and un-healthy in my whole life! I went on anti-depressants and they made me nuts, I am in counseling, which has helped a lot, and I joined a gym. Its hard staying motivated, espcially since Chris joined too and never wants to go! I like going because there is a hot tub and steam room I enjoy using when I am done working out. I am thinking of trying The Zone, because at my gym there is a Zone Centre that does your meal plans for you, and gives support, and prizes and such to encourage you to lose weight. Has anyone tried The Zone? does it work? I have tried Protein Power Plan, and that lasted all of 2 weeks, Atkins made me feel sluggish and sleepy, not to mention the constant eating chicken, eggs and bacon just made me feel worse, it also irratated my tummy. I love eating fruit and veggies and could live on them so Atkins was almost impossible because I wanted to eat more veggies and was having fruit cravings and veggie cravings like nothing else! I didnt want bread, or pasta, or sugary food, just fruits!

My other issue is that I HATE the taste of water.. I know it sounds funny, but I cannot stand the way that it makes me feel to drink it. My tummy gets all sore and I usually feel sick drinking it, the only way I can drink it is to add lemon juice to it... and I don't mean a squirt.. I mean a few capfull's to a bottle of water.. its very sour but I can drink it.

What should I do? I feel so fat and gross and not myself. None of my clothes fit me anymore so I feel even worse, and I don't have the $$ to buy new ones! :(

Kudos to everyone who has lost...or is losing weight! appicon appicon I myself kind of fell of the wagon around Thanksgiving...didn't go to the gym for a few days, was eating worse than normal smashicon But, alas, I got myself back under control, and have been hitting the gym again! I went mon & tues, took wed off...I was soooo tired at work I couldn't believe it. So maybe there is something to this exercise stuff afterall! I haven't been doing the Slimfast thing this week...it seems my appetite has INCREASED...great...just what I needed! I am trying to steer the ole Ford to Subway instead of the "golden arches". I am hoping that the increase in appetite is due to my metabolism speeding up...let's pray. But so far I haven't been eating crazy this week. This is a day by day thing, the one thing that I am trying to acheive more than anything is more physical activity. I want that to be a lifestyle change...I want to continue doing this forever, but I can only take it a day at a time. It does help that I work with these 2 SUPER-Athletic guys, and they ask me on a regular basis "jessica, did you go to the gym today?"...If I say no, then Steve practically reads me the riot act. I have a LOT of pride, so hopefully that will help keep me going, too. What a reason to keep going, so I won't be embarrassed with these guys! I don't want them saying "the fat girl couldn't do it"! wormicon Steve is just trying to encourage is his own crazy way, I know he wants me to succeed. And Rick just will encourage me in a more gentle way. And they both try to give me tips...it's tooo funny. Rick told me he definitely saw a difference in me today, said I looked more refreshed...no gym yesterday = sluggishness/ today - gym= energy! HMMMM...But everyone keep up the good work and thanks for all the encouragement!
