Exactly my point. None of those things, as with your puppies, have anything to do with shots or diet. (Scarlet was born with the benign tumor mass on her head.)

Perhaps you are correct. I really dont know and its hard to make that determination with puppies. I know lots of healthy kibble fed, vaccinated dogs that have lived to ripe old ages as I'm sure their are healthy barf fed, non-vaccinated dogs that have lived to ripe old ages.

There is a reason why Boxers have so many health problems, and it's proven that vaccinations & feeding play a huge part in health. I was curious. Sorry for asking a question and wanting to participate in this adult discussion. I'll bow out now.

Brogan had runny stools when she was 9 weeks for over a week. Tested for worms-negative.

She then got demodex at about 10 -11 weeks of age.

No, I wasn't trying to start an argument (I know better! ), just curious. Catherine O'Driscoll is the guest on DogRead this month talking about the dangers of vaccination, and in the survey that her group (Canine Health Concern) performed, the majority of dogs who had reported health problems had them within 3 months of vaccination. I just wondered if the same type of results would show up on an informal study of BW. I'd still like to know, as I do find it interesting, if we can all keep civil about it. I will promise to try to stay away from the "vaccines can cause health problems" discussion if others will try to stay away from the "vaccines do not cause health problems" discussion. Let's just present the illness and the correspondence to vaccination, and leave it at that. Fair enough?

I'd also be interested in knowing, in those dogs that have/had health issues, if they were vaccinated by the vet when they had those problems.

(In my case, the bloat, most of the kennel cough, mastitis, bruised/strained limbs, allergies, yeast infections, and aortic stenosis occurred within 3 months of vaccination. The other conditions did not (the ear mites were 4 months after), but they have mostly occurred in my heavily-vaccinated-before-I-knew-better dogs.)

Rocky got Parvo from the shelter (or right before he got to the shelter). He had to have had the pneumonia before because when I adopted him he was in a very serious condition. The shelter I got him from does not quarentine new arrivals or give vacs unless the animal gets adopted. So when you come to pick up the animal is when they give the vacs. Don't even get me started on how crappy this shelter is. When I called them to tell them Rocks had parvo and they might want to check the other animals he shared a pen with they did not care. I can't really say if the vacs had effect one way or the other.

It took him a weekend to get through the parvo (we caught it super super early, before he even had the runs). But it took him over a month to get past the pneumonia :( He was so bad and his immune system was just awful which is why I thought the raw diet would be of best benefit to him. Ever since the switch no issues, even being exposed to fosters who are sick

No need to apologize...I didn't think anyone was trying to start and argument, I just sensed potential danger and would have been disappointed had the thread been closed :D

I honestly can't remember if any of my pups ailments happened after vaccinations....do you mean their yearly booster or the 3 they get as pups??

Most of the probs they've had I wouldn't think to associate with vac's but I may be wrong......I don't give them yearly boosters, just the 12 & 16 week shots and obviously the breeder gives them their 6 week ones

Any ailments, after any shots. The only exceptions would be injuries (although there may be some evidence that cruciate problems could be vaccine-related). Allergies, seizures, cysts, pimples - all of those could very well be vaccine-related.

I must say you bring up something very interesting! I had Madeline fully vaccinated and 2 months later she came down with a localized demo-mange problem. Coincidence? .....perhaps not

Unfortunately I must vaccinate her for rabies. But in the future, I will probably forego everything else. *Especially* kennel cough. What a waste of money that was....she caught it despite the vaccination. That was before I knew better, too...

looks like all of our pups have been through so much in their lives, tyler's been no exception during his 8 months :

he had a nasty bout of kennel cough that took forever to go away

coccidia (also took a few rounds of meds)

a fever of 104 the day that i came home and found that not only had he urinated in his crate and threw up, but continued to throw up and kept falling over when placed on his feet (turns out that he has what looks like HOD (hypertrophic osteodystrophy) and had a leg that was hurting him so badly that he couldn't walk. soon enough, though, he became my little tripod for a period of time, and is now fine after having three reoccurrences of a painful leg - aparently this could end up being cyclic, but hopefully won't spread to his other legs!

a few bouts of bad diarrhea and throwing up (turns out he loves to eat rice, which i gave him when he got sick, and i love to watch him cuz it gets stuck all over his face :p )

unexplained rashes

infection in his neuter incision

i believe that's it and i'm doing my best to keep him as healthy as possible! and the vet bills have been ENOURMOUS. but whatever it takes for my baby
