Boxer Insane
With Mollie's b'day just recently, I was thinking about her more than usual on that day, and I thought about all the vet visit's and the things that had gone wrong with her in her 8.5 years.......things like:

Vomiting after eating (pigging down food as a pup)
Numerous skin allergy/ailments
Fox mange (when we lived on 10 acres)
Kennel cough ( when I lived 1k away from the animal aid)
Op to remove a split toe nail
Hit by a car!
Severe allergic reaction due to possible insect bite (thank god I came home when I did)
Ear infections
That's all that comes to mind.......

My brave girl lived through all this only to succumb to that nasty bloat :(

What's everyone else's list of ailments?

Sayde Lynn:
Worms
Cat clawed eye
bee sting on eye
piece of wood in eye (this all in 1 month time span)
Stepped on something and paw swelled up..
Hit by car

Ram
As a pup he had kennel cough
allergic to grass
colds every 2 weeks
bit by a snake

Lexus:
Mange
Staff Infection
Mange again
More mange
Still mange.....smashicon

I really don't know if Chelsea had any ailments prior to my family and I rescuing her from a shelter. The only problems (corrected with meds) is bladder incontinence, and heavy tarter/overgorwn gums which were corrected by our Vet. We pray every day that Chelsea stays healthy and happy for a looooong time. She is the lovicon of our life.

Rosie: ran under moving 4-wheeler; bit by rattlesnake; knocked herseft out on sliding glass door; finally - congenital liver failure. Still miss her every day.

Lexy: severely irregular heartbeat; 2 bad discs in her back and neck; broken toenail (very painful); asphalt scrape from dog attack (her only injury - the two bullies paid a higher price - you go Lexy!! Not to condone the fight, but I'm glad she got the best of it.) She's too lazy to get in too much trouble.

Bailey: Starved, beaten, attacked regularly by grown dogs (all before I got her, obviously); Do-it-yourself tail dock (if I got my hands on those people . . .); false pregnancy (pre-spay); throwing up lots from eating rocks, sticks, trash right after we got her (starvation behavior); near death from parasites, etc. She's finally healthy over one year later!!!!!

Super Boxer
Brits life has been full also. She was also starved and beaten when we got her and was in surivial mode. But she has come thru beautifully. We hope.

Her ailments:

Seizure last night
fleas
ear infection
huge cut from running into a trailer hitch. She got 25 stitches and had to spend the night at the vets in which she transformed into a raving maniac. She thought she was being abandoned again. They had to use a noose to get her out of the kennel.

skin allergies
now arthitis. She takes a baby aspirian every other day and seems to be moving pain free.

But you know when you look at the list this is less ailments than I have had in 7 yrs. You know they are only human. LOL
Have to add some humor.

Cookie
- had to have bone chips removed from her tail at the same time her ears were cropped. After the stitches were removed, she promptly popped the incision open again--->restitch.
- head tremor seizures I strongly suspect are the result of vestibular disease, but can't seem to find any confirming evidence.
- cough caused by unknown virus that resulted in a 3 am trip to the emergency clinic.
- seasonal flank alopecia
- several miscellaneous bumps and benign tumors removed at various times. Last time she was anesthetized she almost died, so unless something looks cancerous, no more anesthesia.
- a fall from a retaining wall left a lump of fibrous connective tissue in the skin of her hock
- arthritis-spondylosis, being managed with Adequan

Gretel
- Was a breeder, I strongly suspect puppy mill. She's been beaten, and is fearful of loud voices.
- Mastitis
- Hip dysplasia, arthritis in left shoulder, also being managed with Adequan.
- Papilloma in ear, recently removed under local anesthesia (yay!) by my wonderful vet.
- Bad, bad teeth. She was going to have a dental over spring break, but had a bad reaction to Rimadyl, so it was put off. Hopefully she'll have it done later this summer.
