Don't forget that the Westminster Kennel Club starts today. Boxers go in today at 1:00 pm EST. You can find the results at this page:

http://www.westminsterkennelclub.org/2005/video/breed/

They have a "streaming video" that should be up an hour or so after judging is finished. Sadly, my computer and dial-up just won't get it in.

Tonight the Group judging will be on TV. Starts with the Working Group, which is the group the Boxer is in. It will be on the USA Network and begin at 5:00 pm Eastern Time. The Working Group is first, so don't be late.

:)

Oops,

My brain was telling myself to not miss it. It is on at 8:00 pm Eastern time and 5:00 pm Pacific time. I'm in the Pacific time zone.

I am sorry some can't get the USA network. I think that is the only place it is shown. :(

Monroe Wins!

CH Bayview Some Like It Hot (Monroe) won the breed at Westminster. Loki took BOS, Derrick got an Award of Merit, as well as Tommie, who won last year.

I am so excited about the boxer coming fourth in the group. We have been watching her in dog shows here in Texas all year long. She is a beautiful girl!

I actually went to the show today, specifically to see the Boxers and the Bull Terriers.

It was very interesting. I was disappointed to only see 2 brindles in the line-up.

Also, after the showing, none of the boxer owners were friendly at all. I was hoping to chat with them about their dogs (understanding that they are busy and lots of people around) but they were very stand offish.

Oh well. Was pretty pleased with the result overall, although I didn't stick around for the days finals.

Stelly.. I am surprised you found the breeders/handlers Standoffish.. Did you go to the Benching area to talk to them. We were there also, and did not find anyone unfriendly.. although it certainly was packed.

Yeah, I was in the benching area. All the dogs were in their cages. I specifically wanted to talk to the brindle owner as I liked the look of the dog very much but the woman ignored me and the man was very much trying to avoid any kind of eye contact (he was standing up on the benches).

Some of the other dogs were asleep and their owners weren't around, but the few that were just seemed to be annoyed by the people walking around (one dog was getting upset if anyone bent down to cage level).

Did speak with a mini Bull terrier owner, a pug handler and a Border terrier owner who were all really nice, but my objective was Boxers so I was disappointed.

It's a very stressful time in unpleasant conditions (they would have been there since early morning and boxers didn't even show until afternoon).

Another aspect that might have played into it was sour grapes -- this was a HUGE upset. Several of them had excellent prospects of winning, but if they lost, they would have assumed it would be to each other.
