Maggie still isn't big on the box!

when i have to leave her at home or at bedtime I tell her "get in the box"! She's so smooth...i open the door and she acts like she's headed in, but then gives me the "shame look" and scurries past the cage and jumps on my bed and flops down. I tell her get down and she gets all submissive and sad looking. I try and pick her up to get her down and she stretches and rolls on her back...(Those of you who have tried to pick up a flipped over boxer know what I'm talking about--all leggy, squirmy and then you get the front paw in the eye--or worse--mouth) Lately she's been crashing with us in bed...we haven't let her do that since she was a puppy 'cause whizzed all over the down comforter. Actually she whizzed on me and then went over to sleep on my husbands side (traitor dog)! I use food, but even with a treat she still sometimes would rather go "bye-bye"--it's getting to the point she sees me with my phone and keys and says "UH, WHERE WE GOIN?" We've had her a year and sometimes she still barks when I leave, but when I get home she sits like a good girl and seems fine. She's chowing on an orange slice right now. Does anyone else's dog have problems with cucumbers? I fed her a slice a while back and it wasn't five minutes later she yacked it! So anyway, I use food to get her in the box without a fight. Boxers can hear a wrapper from 300 yds ya know so she knows she's getting food. I use the low-cal training treats-- I drop 'em in the back of the crate and she goes in. I know its under-handed, but she pulls her share of shady tricks, too! If my husband I are up late talking (really) she's kind of like "YOU"RE NOT SLEEPING...WHY AM I IN HERE? LET ME OUT NOW, NOW,NOW!) Sorry to ramble, but I could go on an on all night. But anyway, Maggie suffers the seperation-anxiety, too. If we left her out she'd destroy anything within reach. She rarely chews things, but I can't even leave her alone while I shower or fold laundry in the basement--she finds MY things and eats them. ie-two pairs of prescription glasses...HA, HA MAGGIE I GOT CONTACTS...the things we do for love! So I lock her in the bathroom with me and the laundry room. I should have named her Shadow!!

OK, I'm done,
Amber

When I get up for work at 3:30am I would let her out and she would follow me all over. She would lay on the mat next to the shower. Now that she sleeps next to the bed she doesn't even move when I get up unless I make too much noise. We got her a nylabone now instead of a rawhide and she loves to chomp on it. She also has a tennis ball to chomp and bounce around, which she loves to chase. I'm just supprised at how well behaved she is, we are soo lucky.

Maggie and Rocco

We met up tonight at a dogpark...you ARE lucky Saphire is well behaved! Maggie and Rocco are both around a year old and both are crazy! I just saw the Rocco gallery and saw what he did to their house!! Maggie is well mannered for me at home, but if the doorbell rings she goes ballistic! I just love her to bits! How old is Saphire?

My wife and I were saying how we should have renamed Sapphire to Rosie!! Then we could cal her Nosey Rosie!! She just wants to see everything when we go out for a walk. We love her to death.

Where did you guys meet up? Sapphire wants to play with someone sooo bad, you should see her at obedience training. She goes nuts, she played with a Great Dane pup an English/American Mastif Mix and then there are 3 boxers besides us that she paws after. They only get to sniff and play for a few minutes.

I ran across this thread today, and loved reading all of it! I had to do a "DanCat" search to get filled in on the whole story!
Sapphire is a very lucky girl to have such a wonderful home! You were cracking me up with how excited you were to get her. Best of luck to the three of you!
