I couldn't have asked for a better clown, companion and protector. It was a sweet and peaceful goodbye he had let us know he was ready. I had prayed he would have one more good day and he did, we took a short walk and I made him chicken and brownies (usually off limits) and he played a little. We are missing him so much; especially the things we thought were annoying at the time. I told my husband we would have to teach MsCotton to be a lot more stubborn about getting off the couch at night to go to bed, he and Boo fought about this for almost ten years! We are going to be extra careful to not forget to feed MsCotton because Boo was the one who would pick up his bowl and drop it at our feet with a loud bang when they were hungry. The hardest part for me is going to the bathroom alone, no Boo on the rug by the tub, it makes me cry. Our oldest son will miss sneaking food from is plate to the big head resting on his lap at the supper table. Our youngest will miss Boo chasing the flashlight like a crazy dog and being licked all over the face. Boo was a great traveler and kept us from feeling to sad about leaving all the people and places we have called home in the past ten years. We are an Air Force Family and Boo was born in our home town and moved with us seven times. The thing I will miss the most is how he slept with his feet propped over the arm of the couch and his nose between his paws so I could pet him and give him a kiss each time I passed by. The house is quiet without protective barking, big sighs and loud snoring, MsCotton is quiet and ladylike.
I just became a member today and did so specifically to thank all of you for all the support I have received by reading your posts. I knew about six weeks ago Boo was winding down and when I took him to the vet we found out he had heart problems and lymphoma. This was on top of the arthritis he had suffered for the past few years. I read a lot on the health forum and eventually started reading posts on the rainbow bridge forum. You all gave me strength and advice. Thank you all so much I couldn't have made it without you.
