When you talked with a lawyer, did you have him/her look for loopholes to get you out of the lease completely? It's been my experience that no lease is completely binding. All ones needs is a small loophole and you're scotch free. Actually, I've NEVER heard of a lease that can't be gotten out of with the right lawyer. The one you talked to may have only been looking for ways for you to keep your baby, but not ways for you to get out of the lease entirely.

Well, we heard from the leasing company and they will NOT let us transfer our lease. I am basically broken hearted right now. We really don't have the resources to fight them on it with a lawyer, and the best option the lawyer had was paying the $300 to break the lease and hope that they will rent out the apartment. Looks like we are stuck without our baby for the next 5 months. I don't think sub letting the apartment is a viable option, the apartment won't allow it, and the entrance to our building is right in view from the leasing office. If they notice us moving out, somebody else moving in, or somebody else here all the time that isn't on the lease, we risk eviction which will affect our credit and could possibly cause us to lose the house. I am soooooo frustrated. All I can do is cry, and I don't even have my baby here to comfort me.

Thanks for all of your support guys. It is really hard on both of us. I thought I would be the only one who was a mess, but DBF is not taking it very well either. It is impossibly difficult to come home to an empty apartment. I'm trying not to complain too much....he is alive and well, and is still our dog, but with him being a half hour away almost, it just doesnt feel like it.

We are going to talk to our friends who live about 5 minutes away and see if they were serious about taking him. Janaya (the wife) said yes last night, but she hasn't talked to her husband Dave about it. If they are willing to take him, that is probably going to be the solution we are going to have to live with. At least he will be close and we can go see him every day. It just isn't the same though.

It is really helping hearing from you guys. You make me feel much better about the situation.

Megan, this is so horrible. I got teary eyed just reading this. I cannot imagine being away from my baby for that long even if you get to visit. It is not the same. Can bigger dogs visit? If you could get your friends to at least let him sleep there maybe he can stay with you most the evening until then. :::::::hugs:::::::
