Boxer Pal
I've got a male who's 6 months right now. He's AKC registered and I'm wanting to breed him in the future. I'm trying to do as much research as possible but don't really know where to start when looking for another breeder to breed him with. I know he's not ready to breed yet but I want to get all the info I can. Anyone know of a website or anything else that I can find other breeders? My boy is amazing and I would love to have his genes passed down so others (including myself) can experience this wonderful Boxer. If anyone can help me or get me started I would appreciate it.

Thanks

To breed your boy responsibly you'll need to have him evaluated by someone who is experienced in the breed (ie. conformation shows).
After he reaches 2 years he will then be able to have the appropriate health testing, then you will need to look for a bitch which complements your dog.
Do you have a mentor (the breeder you got him from for example)?
There is much involved in a successfull breeding program.

Also a great resource is your boy's breeders. If he is breeding quality you likely bought him with a show contract as many breeders want their promising offspring to go in the ring to see how they do. Did your boy's breeder go over his parent's health testing (heart, hips, etc) ?

Remember, this board is filled with boxers with exceptional personalities, markings, etc. That isn't a reason to breed. I have friends who own boxer boys out amazing pedigrees with siblings who are top name show dogs but they don't breed. Why, their boxers are gorgeous and wonderful creatures? To better the breed, only a very few, select boxers should be bred, and there are plenty of health tested, proven in the ring boxers to help bring the breed to a healthier, new level. Boxers carry a lot of genetic issues, issues that don't show up till later in life and breeding is a serious undertaking in regards to knowing the health of the lines.

Congratulations on knowing the love of a boxer! I have adopted four from rescue since there are just so many boxers sitting in shelters, and I must say, each of my boxers have been amazing creatures! There is nothing like a boxer! It's uncanny how all my males have been so much alike and have come to me in such different ways, the traits of the boxer are undeniable!
We're all here because we think our boxer kids are grand, so you are in great company.
