up with the sun!!

I just thought it was our baby who was up with the sun. He is crate trained and starts to bark and whine as soon as it starts to get light. He will go out to do his "business" and will sleep a while longer, but then we let him out of the crate to "roam" and he usually finds a spot by the bed to sleep some more. Maybe our babies are just morning dogs?

I found I can control Lily's wake up time by a nice 20 min walk about an hour before bed, a nice drink afterwards. Then water is taken away until morning. One last pee break before bed time and she passes right out til 6:30 am. She can last longer in the morning now without that full bladder. Her belly doesn't seem to be so "bulgey" in the mornings either.

And forgort who posted about the acid-reflux. I read that boxer's are more apt to get it than most other breeds. Once I read that, I feed her earlier now so she can pass the food out of the stomach and not have it sit there all night in her belly.

I get up early at it is (4:30) but i was having a problem with roxy getting up at 3-330 ish what i did was i made sure i walked her before we went to bed so that way she would wear down a little bit . I kinda figured its like us I sleep alot more and better when ive had some good exersise. It has worked for me Roxy usually sleeps till 5 weekdays when she hears me up and about or 7-8 weekends when we goto bed later and such.

still no luck! :(

We've tried it all so far....a good 45 minute walk right before bed, exercise, etc. We've also tried moving her meal up and back - figuring if it's too early maybe she's getting hungry. Or if it's too late and she hasn't had a chance to get it out of her system, maybe she has to go poop. No luck - nothing has worked. The hard part is that it's sporatic. The last 3 nights she slept through the night, but last night she was up from 2-2:45 and then again from 4-5am! That is nuts when we don't put her to bed until 10:30! We have no idea what to do....So far we're just ignoring her until she stops, but that can be up to an hour and a half!

We have to crate her at night - we have a cat that roams free and Baylee would constantly be getting up to chase her, or she'd be crawling in our bed to sleep, which we don't want either.

And it's weird because before bed she is SOOO tired and can't keep her eyes open! And she just walks in the crate because she knows it's night time....

ugh.........

Man, do I know what you are going through! Betty does the same thing. It's anywhere between 2-3 AM or 4-5 AM, it's even been as early as 12:30 AM! She gets me up by jack hammering on the bed. I'm in auto pilot as I get up, let her outside (we have a fenced yard), let her back in, feed her, and then I usually just end up sleeping in the recliner so I don't disturb dh by climbing back in bed. After Betty has her "mid-morning" snack, she jumps up on the couch, lays her head on the couch pillow, takes a big sigh, and goes back to sleep. She eats before she goes to bed at night, so I can't imagine she's hungry. I play fetch and we play with her toys for a good hour every night, and she spends a good deal of time outside when the weather is nice burning around in the fenced yard. I thought she had gotten over it the a couple nights ago. For two nights in a row, we slept until 7 AM!! Last night, she was up at 4 again. Maybe they are related? If you find something that works, let me know!

My only solution that works; I let him sleep with us in our bed. This is the only way we can sleep a bit longer, especially on weekends.

My 2 boxers got me up at 330 am to go potty then at 730 to go potty. They usally dont sleep much later then 730 or 800 in the mornings. When you got the boxer you had to have read up on them to know they were a high energy dog right? Some days it is harder then other for me because of my work hours I let them out to play for about an hour and then bring them in and they are good to go for about 3 hours before they want out again.

Hi From NZ

Boxer Booster
Maybe this thread should be re-titled 'The Frustrated and Sleep Deprived Boxer Parents Thread', lol. I am reading all the posts with great interest as I haven't had a good full night sleep since what now feels like forever ago! The suggestions from the experienced boxer mums and dads aare much appreciated, thanks, because it sounds like a lot of OTHER boxer mums and dads are prepared to try just about ANYTHING to get that elusive full night sleep! I keep telling myself this sleepless night phase surely can't last forever.................! Hang on in there everyone, and remind yourself often how worth it they really are, haha!
