wahh!! diarrhea, any ideas??

All of a sudden Tyson has diarrhea and i have no idea what it is from. I started to feed him just chicken and rice for 3 days and that held him up, but once i started to incorporate some of his dog food back he has diarrhea again. Should i keep him on chicken and rice longer? and for how long? Bc when he is on chicken and rice he doesn't go number two at all, maybe like once every 2 days.....any ideas on what else i could do?

Depends. Is he unwell or out of sorts at all? If so you should probably see the vet.
Could he have eaten anything he shouldn't have? My Luca has frequent bouts because he's such a scavenger. Generally if it's something he's eaten, you should starve for 24 hours (still allow water), then put him on a bland diet like you have, the chicken or plain white fish and rice or mashed potato, then when his stools are good again and not before, very gradually reintroduce his normal food. Is he normally ok on his usual food?
By the way, Luca goes very little when on boiled chicken and rice, probably because there's so little waste. Let us know how he gets on. Good luck

What kibble are you feeding him? Does he have any other symptoms aside from the diarreah?

If it starts up again when you give him kibble maybe it just doesn't agree with him.

Hi, I'm sorry to hear about your boy. I have many of the same questions that have already been posted; any other symptoms? what food was he eating when the diarrhea started/was this a new food? could he have eaten something he wasn't supposed to have? If he has any other symptoms, he should be checked by your vet. Please keep us posted. Sending healing vibes to Tyson.

thanks for all the advice! he is currently on merricks. but i'm thinking about changing him to solid gold. he is getting better and i'm slowly incorporating his food back. so hopefully all goes well!!

hmm so after i had incorporated his dog food back into his diet, he is getting diarrhea again. is it possible for the dry food to have gone bad?? i have been feeding him merricks since i got him (2years) so i have no idea why he would be having diarrhea. he acts normal and is still hyper and happy. but since i'm thinking of changing him to solid gold, should i just change it? and if i do would i still have to mix the merricks with the solid gold, since he is on chicken and rice right now??
