Very worried right now

Well I got some sleep last night...

Hi everyone,

Taya's condition seems to be a bit better, but much the same. Her hack sounds more like a wheez where she can't catch her breath to the point she almost throws up. It must be so painful. I just hope that it gets better for her soon, I feel so sorry for my little tot.

CondoPup - that is exactly what happened! Our vet too, said that the adreniline was most likely the cause of her not coughing. Hope Guiness has fully recovered from his cough.

I think she will be ok, I am just a worried mom. Everytime she coughs during the middle of the night I just snuggle a little closer to her to let here know that I am so sorry she is sick.

Thanks again everyone for your ongoing support and understanding. I knew I could count on all you lovely people to understand and help me to have hope in this situation - it has been quite scary. Thank you!

I'm glad she seems to be on the mend! You know, this might b far-fetched but it is possible that the marker-chewing was just completely coincidental and she actually has kennel cough. Either way it is so hard to hear them coughing like that. I hope she continues to get better and that it's all over quickly!

Poor Taya girl. I just caught this thread. I am so sorry your little girl is feeling so bad. Sending tons of positive vibes and some very sloppy kisses from Nestle & Porter and (((hugs))) for mommy.

CondoPup - we wished it were! Unfortuntely Taya has had kennel cough before and it was really different (even different sounding). I know the symptoms sound like kennel cough, but even our vet assured us that he believed it was a direct result of inhalation of the vapors from the markers. She also had dizziness and stomach convulsions the day that she had punctured them.

She does seem to be having a bit easier time today, so that makes me feel great. Her little throat is raw, so just a squeak comes out when she hacks.

Poor puppy, it sounds like a true "chemical burn" situation. I will tell you that I went through our condo after reading this thread to see what was lying around on the floor, and didn't like the things I found (no markers like this, but other things that - who knows? - could be just as harmful). I hadn't done this since Guinness was a little puppy but it really should be done from time to time. Thank you for sharing this situation, it may have helped me (and others) take some dangers out of the way of our pups. Sending healing vibes your way, in the hopes that Taya's lungs heal fast! Get better soon, Taya!

Thanks so much Condo Pup and to everyone who wrote to me regarding Taya. I am happy to report that she is feeling a lot better. Very little coughing going on and her spirit is bright! Take care all!
