Well all of those awesome boxer vibes, prayers and hugs have worked their magic again. We took Aus down there this morning, and after the oncol. examined him he said he has a very mild case of this form of lymphoma, and doesn't even need to be on chemo! So he's now on 20mg of pred twice a day and accutone once a day. After three months they will cut the pred down, unless he has side effects like peeing in the house or something then he will cut him down sooner. I feel so relieved. When the dr. took Aus in the back to examine him (we can't be in the room or he doesn't co-operate) I was sitting there thinking ok, all of my bw friends are here waiting with me and it's gonna be ok. The oncol. will be up at my regular vet's office on May 9, so we have to bring him in and him and his regular vet will sedate him and go back in a check his mouth again. This time we can wait for him, not have to leave him there all day. And they will check his liver and kidney function in two or three months, I don't actually remember what he said. This has been such a rollercoaster ride, I have such a headache right now. So once again thank you thank you thank you all for those vibes, prayers and hugs for Aus. And for being here to support me. I never would have made it without you.

Great news! I am very happy for you!

Did they say they could actually send the cancer into remission with the pred? Or is the pred used to keep it from coming back now that they have removed the tumors?

There are no tumors to remove, this type of cancer is not a solid mass type. He just has dark red spots on his gums. The pred will kill the cancer cells, and I honestly don't remember right now what the accutane does.

fiestaicon Oh, what FANTASTIC news!! I am SO happy for you and Austin, I bet that boy has been getting even bigger hugs today....if that's possible! ;) I'm sure you are so relieved that he doesn't need the chemo.

As Jan mentioned in an early post, have you taken a look at Austin's diet, and possibly considered changing it to grain free, or even feeding raw? She said that cancers feed on carbs - I've read that in many articles.

There is much to be said for paranoid moms!! Early diagnosis is so important in catching things before they get bad. I'm so glad you had Austin's lipsmacking and the inside of his mouth checked!!

Have a HAPPY DAY!! :) And I'm continuing to send healing and positive thoughts for Austin.........HUGS
