Very scary moment

Oh my gosh Dan! I know that panic! Willis and previous dogs (including dog-sitting dogs) have done that to me. It is terrifying. To look on the brighter side of it, the three of them were probably fairly amused watching you run around the yard in the rain. Glad to know all of your babies are safe and sound.

I am so glad you found your baby. Curly likes to run off if given the chance - too frightning.
When I was young we had a chiwawa (sp?) and while on vacation my brother and sis - in - law took care of her. She was very old at the time. When we came home Cookie was no where to be seen. I ran up and down the block screaming her name and crying.
She had gottten sick and they put her down while we were gone. No one told me so not to ruin our trip.
It was horrible.

Oh, I understand that worry. One time I couldn't find Scrapper. I checked all over the house. Didn't see him and starting panicking. Then went back and looked more carefully. He was buried deep into my daughter's bed amongst the pillows and stuffed animals and so comfy he didn't bother responding to my calls. And I just missed him when I looked in there. My daughter is away at school, so that room is kind of quiet and peaceful and he goes there whenever he wants to get away from that little dickens, Holly...

I can relate to that.
A while ago, I answered a knock on the door to find one of the neighbourhood kids at the door with my Daisy.
It seems our door wasn't closed properly and Daisy slipped outside undetected. This child was smart, (and kind), enough to realize she wasn't suppose to be free outside and to returned her to our home.
Great Kid!!!

Before the end of the day, the offending door had two automatic closers on it ( incase on failed ).

Horrible Feeling

I know that horrible feeling as well. A few weeks ago I was taking out the trash. When I walked back in the gate our outside dog bolted out the gate and Scout was right behind him. I'm sure it was quite a sight as I went running down the alley after them in my dress clothes and high heeled shoes shouting her name at the top of my lungs. All I could see in front of me was cars going down a busy street and my heart was sinking. She finally stopped when I called her by her nickname. She also did not have her tags on so no one would know where to return her if they even had the inclination to do so. What a relief. Never caught the other dog, he is too fast and stubborn but he did come back. Now we do not take out the trash with only one person, someone has to guard the gate. Glad you have all three dogs safe and sound.

Dan, I'm glad to hear that all three of your babies are safe and sound at home.

Losing one of my pets this way (by them getting stolen or escaping the yard) is one of my biggest fears of all time. Just the thought of not knowing where they are, who they're with, if they're safe, if they're hurt,.... it's just so scary and very depressing!! I honestly don't know how I would cope if something like this ever happened to me. :(

I've had this feeling with both dogs...I couldn't find Zoe once & finally found her closed in a closet!! Another time I let both dogs out...I left the back door partialy open so they could come in when they wanted. 1-15 min later I went to check on them as I hadn't see them & only Zoe was outside. I went frantically searching outside & inside & found no Harley. I woke up Blake in tears that Harley was gone...turns out Harley had went in the basement to explore & gotten stuck. There's about a 3-4 ft. ledge around the entire basement & he jumped on that to walk around & got behind the washer & dryer & couldn't get down!! Blake had to pick him up off of there...I felt so stupid when we found him but was sooo relieved

Glad to hear everyone is safe at home!! My pups getting loose into the front yard is my worst fear espec. since Evie is a runner :( But, i too have lost my dogs IN the house!! I put new carpet in the formal front room - well the best way to describe the color ---- its exactly like Adams brindle coat!!

Well, we were getting ready to go to bed, most of the lites in the house were turned off. I called the pups to come to bed. Adam didnt come. SO, i start running all over the house looking for Adam. Turns out he didnt HAVE to come! When I called them to come, I was standing right next to him as he lay on the floor with a bone

[Cami]

Been there and done that twice. A friend was visiting with her dogs and the "kids" were having fun in the backyard. When it came time for them to leave she leashed both of hers and headed for the gate that is on the side of the house. I went in thru the house to get her purse.

She loads up her dogs and heads off. I come back in the house and head to the back door to let Cami in. I can't see her anywhere and think that perhaps she is on the side of the house wondering where her friends went. I quickly realize that Cami is gone.....no identification either.

I am freaking out and almost in tears. I run in the house calling for her thinking that she followed me in. Still no Cami. I call my friends cell as she is heading home to have her come back and help me look for Cami. I grab my keys and head to the front door....only to find Cami sitting at the door waiting to be let inside! What a great girl she was that day. She didn't go anywhere except out the gate thinking she was going with her friends on a joyride. When they left she must have realized that she couldn't get back in the yard and went to the front hoping that I would come looking for her.

On the second "Cami went missing saga" We were at the race track on our first journey with Cami, father-n-law and motorhome. I was in the drivers seat, hubby outside and we were trying to get it leveled talking with walkie-talkies. Out goes father-n-law and apparently Cami followed him out.....

Within seconds I realize that Cami is not in the MH and I again freak out and start looking out all of the windows because of the height of the MH I knew inside that I would have a better view. I start yelling at DH that she is gone and his face went whiter than white. I spot her a few MH's away, on top of a pug! She went to find new friends. The owners quickly grabbed her collar and literally had to pull her off of their smothered pug. DH and I are running and screaming that she is not vicious and won't hurt their dog she only wants to play. Cami was found again and I hope I never have that sickening feeling in this lifetime.
