Very scary moment

OMG!!! Just reading your post I got scared!! I would have been frantic out of my mind. It's never happened to me, but I often think it could. My husband says that boxers don't run away like some other breeds, but my baby is a curious kind of a guy and I know would LOVE to be out there checking things out WITHOUT a leash on. One day not too long ago, my husband had just gone out the door to run an errand, and I asked him to leave the front door open a crack so I could grab an armload of stuff I wanted to throw in the dumpster. I walked down the stairs and there at the bottom stands my husband with Grunt sitting next to him!! He had sneaked out the door while I had my back turned. He wanted to go with his daddy!!
It was cute, but at the same time scarey because I never saw him scoot out the door, and what if his daddy hadn't been around. I'll NEVER leave the door open like that again. I'm glad you didn't really lose your Maggie - what an awful fright!! Did you ever figure out where she went??

Glad to hear that Maggie is safe and sound and I know that terrifying stomach lurch when you think one of your dogs may have got out - this happened to me when Monty was younger. Both Diva and Monty hadn't been out long when Diva came running back inside very excited - when Monty was younger Diva just loved to 'tell' on Monty. As Diva ran in front of me I started calling for Monty as we headed outside. Diva made right for the wire fence down the shelter belt of my boundary and there stood Monty looking extremely forlorn as he could not get back! Once I had made it to the other side of the fence to Monty he was quite happy just to follow me back. It seems he dug and then shimmied under the fence. All I can say is thank god he didn't decide to run off as there are acres and acres of market gardens and a very busy road...........................

I am so glad you posted this! I had the same thing happen last week and I felt terrible about it. I had left my 9 year old in charge of his siblings so I could go to the bathroom. Well, my 9 year old sees the neighbor's dog in our yard and decides to open the door and yell at the dog. Meanwhile, Chloe darts out, goes across the road, and runs after the other dog. Then, she goes into another neighbor's yard to say hello to their coonhound. I was so scared! I finally caught up with her and brought her home. Scared the daylights of of me AND my 9 year old! Lesson learned!

I hate that feeling!
Last weekend the electricity went out 3 times at my house during an electrical storm. Most of my concern was on my 2 yr old who panics in the dark and did cry everytime the lights went out. The 3rd time it happened I had him in my arms and called to my dogs. Mia came running but no Rocky, I started to call for him but couldn't hear anything. My heart racing I checked the back door and no dog. I YELLED Rocky and my 6 yr old screams he is in the bathroom with me. I ran and waited outside the door (still dark with flashlight in hand) and Christian says he is afraid to go to the bathroom in the dark by himself so he took Rocky with him! I almost peed on myself! Rocky was quite happy to be the center of attention!

If ginger gets out accidently she runs around the house a few times and then will come if you call her. Our mixed breed as gotten out a few times, he likes to run and always tries to sneak out, especially when my father in law visits. Luckily every single time he got loose he runs through the woods to my neighbors pature and stares at her horse!

How scary!!! Mason got lost a few years back and it was the worst feeling in the world not knowing where he was. I am glad Miss Maggie is home safe and sound.
