This dog is so high maintenance...lol I got up this morning to give him his 2 antibiotic pills - wrapped in cheese. He takes the cheese and spits the big pill out. I give it to him again same thing. I get out the hot dogs and shove them inside the hot dog and give it to him. For once he decides to actually chew instead of swallow and out came the pill half chewed powder everywhere all over my hand all over the cone everywhere. I shove it back in the hot dog and he chews again and makes it even worse. Then proceeds to eat the hot dog so I finally have to shove the pill down his throat. I know it tastes horrible as he has already drank tons of water so now I will be outside most of the day while it is raining - pretty sad when you go out and hold the umbrella over the dog so the stitches don't get wet and you come in absolutely drenched.

What a good mama you are. I am sorry your boy got hurt. It sounds to me that he is recovering well. Hope everything continues down that same path. I had to laugh at the last post though, I could just picture that happening. Sending healing vibes.

Update on Tyson - back to vet

Well yesterday morning while I was at work my husband calls and says that Delilah is bleeding from her paw. I asked him what happened and he said he went to get her in the yard and she was by the fence (where Tysons happened) and bleeding he doesn't know what happened. So he took her to the vet and they glued her paw and she is now fine.

Onto Tyson I took him to the vet (our regular vet not the one who placed the stitches)today to have the stitches taken out. He was pretty excited to be going bye bye in his right state of mind. My vet took out the stitches and there was one spot where he split a stitch the first night it happened that never healed - this is the deepest part and what kept bleeding the first 5 days or so. Anyhow there was still a hole about the size of a nickel that was still opened and a little slit at the very end of the wound. He glued the bottom one shut and was messing with the bigger hole which started bleeding. He tried to glue it but it wouldn't hold so he had to have 2 more stitches put in. I told him he wasn't going to take this dog away from me and I wanted to be there simply because Tyson would have went crazy and risked splitting it even more - so he injected an anestetic to numb the area injected some penicillian in the wound and put 2 stitches to close it. Tyson didn't even flinch and was wonderful. My vet didn't even charge me for all this. The area looks a lot better and Tyson is now resting and hating the cone even more now that he has to wear it another 10 days. He also got his shots while there so we are good for another year. My vet also told me next time god forbid there be one to try to call him first for the emergency as he is usually always around and transfers the phone to himself. He said he could fix him up and for a heck of a lot cheaper. I love my vet!!!

I'm so sorry to hear about your baby. What an awful thing to happen.

Whenever I have to give Archie a big pill, he also spits it out. It's amazing how he can find a pill even when he's eating something with a lot of other hard pieces. The one thing that works every time is putting the pill inside an ice cream sandwich! He can't spit it out without spitting out some of the ice cream, and there's no way he will waste any of that precious stuff. LOL

It works every time.

Good luck and send healing vibes to you both.

Pills

Try giving the pills in a wad of peanut butter. Use your finger and put the wad in their mouth (with the pill). Works like a charm.

I am sorry he still has to wear that awful collar for another 10 days, sending you the strength to withstand "The Look". Sorry to hear about your other pup as well. Have you gone and checked that section of fence, it sounds like there must be something sharp over there. Good luck with your pups hope all the excitement is over and you guys can just have fun now.

I am happy to report that the old fence is down and the new privacy fence is up on the neighbors side so no more worrying of what it is. I am so happy right now!
