Tazi-

I am so sorry to hear what the doctor told you. You and Tobie are in my thoughts and prayers. Try to keep your head up and your shoulders strong. I wish there was something I could do for you. You have to trust that Tobie is getting the best care and no matter what the outcome, all will be for the best in the end.

Please stay strong and best of luck. Prayers and thoughts with you.

Too sad for words

Tobie died at 7:30 this morning. The vet called at about 8 and said that he died peacefully with no pain. They were doing gentle exercises on his legs to prevent atrophy and he just stopped breathing. My son took down his cage and put it and his food bowls in the shed.
I've cried and cried, there seems to be no end to it. I called my ex and asked to see Rusty, his boxer, that I helped raise from a really young age. He says he will work something out-his girlfriend gets really jealous easily and I don't want to cause friction. I love Rusty as much as Tobie and it would really comfort me to have him around. I've had "visitation" of him off and on and it was so cute to see them together. Rusty was the boss, since he was a year older. What do I do with all of Tobie's toys? Should I give them to Rusty?
I think I'm just blubbering, feeling really lost and sad.

I am so very sorry for your loss. I wish there was something I could say to make you feel better. After I lost Garrett, I found alot of comfort on Petloss.com - they have a Monday night candle light ceremony and a chat room that really helped me heal. Please know that we are here for you and send you (((HUGS))).

Godspeed Tobie and run free angelicon

My heart breaks for you. I am glad to hear that Tobie didn't suffer. It will take a long time for you to get over his loss. However, the love you have for him is needed by another Boxer. Don't do anything in haste.

When Rocky passed, we got rid of all his stuff, at least we thought we did. We got rid of his feeding, and water bowls, and all his old toys. We had him cremated and put his collar around the tin that held his ashes, then put the container, with his collar around it and one of his favorite toys, a small teddy bear like stuffy in his red Milk Bone blanket and buried him in one of our garden mounds next to his departed friend, Poosoir the cat.

We thought we had gotten rid of all his old toys, but Indy has managed to find three or four that we had missed. Rocky had secreted them in hiding places and Indy managed to find them.

In a previous e-mail I commented that Rocky's spirit seems to live in Indy's body. Maybe it does, since Indy has managed to drag these momentos from their hiding places. Indy now has a bedraggled blue stuffy football, a yellow tennis ball and a tug of war toy that had been Rocky's.

That emptiness you feel can only be filled by another Boxer. You probably don't want to think about that right now. It took us about a month, then I told my wife we had to find another. She wondered if we wanted to go through this again, and I told her no, but I didn't like having such an empty morbid home.

I assure you, that you can love another Boxer with the same intensity. And yes, parting will again be difficult. But it's a small price to pay for the way these incredible animals can light up a home.

I know how difficult it can be. I can remember wandering aimlessly around the house, patting the corner of the couch which was Rocky's favorite place to relax and look out a fromt window.

Be thankful for all Tobie meant to you. Many people go through life never having such a dear friend.

Condolences, Tom

I am so sorry about Tobie. I have been checking this post every day wishing for good news. I am at work with tears running down my face. Loosing a furbaby is so hard. I know you are just devastated but time will help. No dog will ever replace your sweetie but after my older dog passed away I was very depressed. I couldn't do anything I was calling in sick and I wouldn't get out of bed I just cried all the time. One day my ex (he was pretty worried by this point) came home from work with a new boy puppy. At first I was so sad that I didn't want anything to do with him. And I was about to tell my ex husband that I wasn't ready yet, when my Caesar came running top speed straight at me and took a nice little chunk out of my nose. Then he licked all my tears away and although I have never forgoten Gucci (my dog that passed) having a new furbaby in the house really saved me. It was the first time I smiled since Gucci had gone to the bridge. I am sure Tobie is up their right now with my sweet Gucci and all the other furbabies playing like the crazy dogs they are.

My thoughts and prayers are with you! I also lost a puppy to what the Vets believed to be Encephalitis. Elliot had the EXACT same symptoms your Tobie did. I put Elliot to sleep in July and I think about him everyday. In my case, I went out and get another puppy - named her Ellie - in Elliot's honor.
I'm sure Elliot has welcomed Tobie to the Bridge and they are off playing like healthy, happy boxer boys!
Hang in there and please find comfort in knowing you did all you could for your boy - you are a wonderful person!!

Tazi,

I just read this thread. I am so very sorry for the loss of your sweet Tobie. But bless you for doing all you could have for your sweet boy and try and take some comfort in knowing that he had just the best mommy. Now he is free, healthy and in such fine company at the bridge. Bless you and your sweet Tobie.
