Two boxers in an 800 sq ft. condo with a tiny backyard???

I have a big house and yard and while they love to run in the yard we have a park 5 mins walk away. We take them there to run often because they need a change of scenery and they need to be socialized too. In that way if you have a small place it would help them because you have no choice but to take them out for excercise and they can work on socialization skills too. Mine wrestle alot but it doesn't matter how much room they have. They'd do it inside a cardboard box if that was all they had! :) Even though our house is big they are usually in the same room i'm in most of the day. You sound a bit iffy about the whole thing. My main concern would be the dog sitting part of it. Two left alone could be good or bad. Is your dog now well behaved alone? The second dog usually follows the example of the older dog. Is there a dogproof area in the condo to leave them to play in like a kitchen so they would have a little more room to play? otherwise you may have to crate them while you are gone everyday. It is great with two if you're up for the challenge! Good luck with what ever you choose. :)

I live in a 800 sq. foot house with two boxers and a Weimaraner. It gets cramped sometimes, especially when I had two huge crates in my kitchen. If you do decide to get another here is my two cents - get everyone socialized so you can take them on long walks ANYWHERE. I can only take Mabel out for walks. Reilly can only take car trips to check out the world. I wish I could take both of them out at the same time. Luckily, I have a small fenced-in yard for them to run around in though. If possible become friends with someone with a fenced-in yard and dogs, so you can take your dogs over there once in awhile. Also, throw away all clutter in the house, then it won't seem so cramped. I'm a packrat by nature, so this has been hard on me. Let's see - you'll have to baby proof the house like crazy since they don't have as many places to snoop. My mother says if I want to keep anything nice in my house I have to hide it two feet up my butt. Hee. Sometimes I feel like I'm living in a dog house since I bought this house with the intention of just having one dog, but really I wouldn't have it any other way.

I have a 750 sq.ft. townhouse, 2 boxers, and a cat and LOVE every minute of it. It is a tight squeeze, but we manage just fine. I have a tiny yard, that my landlord let me gate in, so that gives them an extra room (it's about the size of my living room out there). Adrienne is still crated and Brewster is always free. I will advise you also, to get rid of any extra crap in the house. No decorative things, knickknacks, etc. When there is little space to romp, things get knocked over, broken, etc and they just add to the tight feeling of the house. I threw out all the extra clutter when I got Adrienne but also put her gigantic crate in my living room. My parents came up to see her for the first time last weekend and commented "it looks huge in here!" It just takes careful arranging and cleaning. Speaking of which, be prepared to do constant cleaning! My last suggestion would be make sure your living area is completely empty in the center of the floor. All my furniture is arranged around the perimeter of the room, so they craziness can take place in the "center ring." I have foregone a coffeetable, etc and it has definitely made life easier!!!

So, yes, it is definitely doable, you just have to plan for it and be sure you are totally ready to make the commitment.

Our house is 1700 sq ft. It does not matter beacuse Zoe and Flash love to be wherever we are, so because of this they do not utilize the space they could. Also, even though they play hard, they also sleep alot. My two are so lazy. With proper exercise, you will be fine. :)

I live in a 650 square foot home with a very small non fenced in yard. I have 2 dogs and 4 cats. The only good thing is that I have a finished basement so there is room for my cats. The biggest drawback is that I have Oscars kennel in the kitchen so it takes up space I really don't have, and the living room that is the biggest room serves as the office and the tv room, and the dogs steal the couch so I spend a lot of time sitting in the computer chair. Any exercise they get daily is with walks and visits to the dog park. They don't seem to mind as long as they get exercise and I just see it as "cozy". I plan on buying a home soon and I am definitely looking for a bigger home with a fencable yard but that may be hard to find in the city. But until then we survive.
