Twitching and jerking during sleep???

Our new puppy jerks a lot in his sleep. I assumed he was dreaming but sometimes he'll move his legs almost in full running motion. I am pretty sure he's dreaming, but this isn't anything to worry about like a siezure or anything is it?

I swear mine go on cross country runs in their sleep. Plus they snuffle snort wimper and yip sometimes too, so I guess the dreams are not always good :(

Koa does the same thing & when I first brought him home & he did that I freaked out & called the breeder. She said they are just dreaming & that sometimes hers even bark in their sleep!
We have to other dogs that have never done the stuff Koa has done so it's a learning experience every day. Kinda like me having my 3rd daughter 10 years after my first one! LOL!!

jake barks and even growls in his sleep sometimes. he's even barked himself awake. this usually happens after a big day at the park

I'd say that most dogs do this. Tuppence our older Collie runs marathons in her sleep and sometimes whines and whimpers like she's having a bad dream, Lola does this too sometimes. I wake them if I feel they're getting a bit distressed.

I don't think you have anything to worry about...it's just a doggy dream...good or bad. Samson twitches, whimpers, and sometimes yips in his sleep. It freaked me out a little to hear him whimper and yip the first time but realized he was just dreaming. It doesn't happen ALL of the time but when it does - you have to wonder what they're dreaming about?!!

we have to laugh everytime Kuma is dreaming...it's so funny to try and guess what she's dreaming about. When she first came home at 8 weeks, she would suckle in her sleep, too...i wonder if she was dreaming of her mommy?!?!?! hehehe

yes bimmer does that too, you can stick your pinky finger down there and he'll suck on it

Both of mine do this all the time. Napoleon will sometimes even do a little bark sound. He has flipped himself off the couch. Sandy just runs and twitches her little nose. It is a little alarming at first, but it can be funny, especially if they are really tired.

Yeah, the other night, Scrapper - full grown male - woke me up, kicking me repeatedly in the back as he ran down whatever flights of fancy he was chasing in his sleep that night.
