The girls were romping and running along the trail off leash yesterday when they spied a turtle crossing the path. Of course they rushed to see it and, when they got close, the turtle closed himself up in his shell.

Well, this was just too much for my girls. Maggie was convinced that the turtle had gone UNDER the shell and she was digging and digging under the turtle and then looking to see if it was under there! Then she'd flip it up with her nose and dig, dig, dig more, again convinced the pesky turtle was under there somewhere.

Then they'd pounce on the shell. Susie seemed to know that the turtle was in the shell so she didn't dig. She snooted and nosed the shell, trying her hardest to get that thing out of there. When that didn't work, she decided she'd woo woo the turtle out with a little song. So she barked and woo woo'd at it hoping that would do the trick. Sorry, but I guess the turtle thought, "she's no Maria Callas !" ;)

I laughed and laughed at their antics trying to get that turtle. Some joggers stopped and watched and roared with laughter too at those silly boxer girls! :D

But, I decided that they had traumatized the poor turtle enough so we moved on. But gotta hand it to the old tortoise, he never once budged out of his shell and took it all and didn't give up.

Score: Turtle =1
Boxers =0

:D :D :D

Heehee :LOL: I can just picture it! Your girls were probably so confused and frustrated with that little box with legs!!! It must have been hillarious to watch! I have a tortoise, and Layla is obsessed with him!! I won't let her actually get too close (unless I am holding the tort in my hand, then I allow her to sniff him) because he's actually still quite small and I think she'd try to use him as a chew toy....she licks her lips incessantly whenever I am moving him from his inside tank to his outdoor enclosure...I think that is *not* a good sign! Thanks for the giggle!

That is so funny!:D I love how our boxers react to wildlife! I love that Susie tried to woo woo it out!

Samantha met a turtle once in our back yard, and it retreated into it's shell, too, and it had a piece of shell under neath that slams shut when it's head goes in. You should have seen Samantha jump back when that thing slammed shut! It was hilarious!

:D What a funny story! I love turtles. That turtle was probably wondering when Maggie was gonna give up that digging.:p
