i just woke up this morning and heard on the news that a earthquake has hit the Soloman islands 8.1 on the scale and they have issued a Tsunami warning for all the east coast of Australia from cook town down to tassie.

so far it should have hit Cook town but nothing yet thank goodness, cook town is the top of Oz in Queensland so hears hoping it was only a warning and nothing will come of it and it has been issued as a better safe than sorry we didn't let you know it could happen warning. all these world disasters are starting to get a bit freaky it makes me wonder what is going to happening to our beautiful planet.

It's very scary isn't it????!!!! I have a severe phobia of natural disasters after I was in an earth-quake in upstate NY! I lived in Plattsburgh when it hit in 2002! (only a few miles from the epicenter!) I'll never forget waking up to the awful noise; and all my stuff falling on top of me! I've never experienced anything even close to that! Of course, after 9/11-- I initially thought we were under attack! Ever since.... I've had a severe paranoia! I still have nightmares! I feel your fear!!!! I hope everything works out okay!! My thoughts and prayers are with you!!!

Well it didn't happen thank goodness but atleast the warning that it could came from Hawaii and we knew it was a possibility not like the boxing day tsunami of no warning although there have been deaths in the Soloman islands which is sad.

i've been through one earthquake back in 1989 or 1990 i was standing between 2 scissor lifts - i worked for an equipment hire company and i remember watching some kids walking up the road and seeing the road buckle and twist and then resettling and those machines i was standing between were parked straight and seeing them move sideways only slightly but they moved and i can remember thinking earthquake and saying no way that only happens in L.A. not here Newcastle and then thought a mine cave in - we have alot around the hunter valley but we had lost power and i got in the car turned on the radio and it was an earthquake and i think about 13 died - it just wasn't heard of in Australia it was all really freaky.

i dont worry about things like this too much but when we get warnings like that i think nope it can happen in Australia is just like it can anywhere else - i've always felt like we were so far away from everything we'd be ok - silly really

I live in Central New York and remember feeling the quake in 2002. scary! but very unusual around here. Normally we just get snow, mountains of it! I feel bad for the people affected by the latest earthquake and flooding....
