Tomorrow is Saturday and we start our trip out to meet the breeder and puppy. We will be staying in a hotel tomorrow night that is not far from the breeder. The big day is Sunday morning after breakfast. If everything goes well and we are happy with meeting the breeder, the dam, and the puppy. We will be heading home with Brodie our new boxer puppy. It’s going to be a long ride home with the need for frequent stops and all since he will only be 8 almost 9 weeks old. I hope he sleeps a lot for the ride.

We have been spending the last week getting ready. We set up our old crate in the bedroom were eventually the dog bed will reside. I also set up a wire kennel in our breakfast nook next to the kitchen. It’s quite large so I am using the divider to make it half the size until he gets bigger. He will spend his days in the kitchen area and in the kennel when we are out. He will sleep in the bedroom near us at night until he has been house broken.

Besides all of the reason mentioned already about selecting a good breeder. You can see the reason why we are making such a long trip. Pictures of Brodie at 5-6 weeks.

What a cute puppy! He remind so much of Markus when he was a pup.

Good luck on your trip. Hopefully you will be coming home with a puppy. :)

It’s Monday morning and we got home not too late last night with our new family member Brodie. He was really very good for the ride home. We made a lot of frequent stops. I think the longest we went in between stops was an hour and half or maybe two. Since it’s the first time he was wearing one he doesn’t much like his collar though. He did pretty good last night too considering it’s his first night away from mom and litter mates. He got up 2-3 times last night and it took some work each time after a bathroom break in yard to get him to lay down in his crate again next to our bed. But I resisted letting him sleep in my lap which of course is exactly what he wanted. We put a towel with our sent in his crate along with a nice baby blanket embroidered with a boxer and kennel name that the breeder gave us. The blanket also has his mom and litter mates sent on it. I think that helped a lot.

Brodie is napping in his kennel next too me now as I work on my laptop. The kennel is were he will spend his daytime unsupervised time and if we go out. It’s next to the table I work at when at home. Now I just need to figure out how to get a nap in myself because it will probably be another long night.

The breeder and dam was just as I had hoped they would be. I really do think we made the right choice even with such a long ride. It’s nice to have a pedigree even if you not a show family and it is even nicer to see all the health tests and know that the breeder really cares about their dogs and their puppy’s health and longevity.

Brodie is beautiful. It just goes to show that the best things do come to those who wait and well done to you for having the patience to do all your research, and for choosing a reputable breeder.

I'm sure you're gonna have so much fun from here on in :D
