[Coco'smommy]

Well we returned completely exhausted from a nice but long weekend. We drove around 500 miles from thurs to sun. We stayed at my brothers, then my FIL's and then back to my parents for dinner yesterday. Coco did very well with all the driving and staying at differant homes. I was real proud of her. We only had one mishap. My brother has a dalmation. She is not a nice doggy. She didn't like Coco from the get go and didn't want her in the yard much less the house. We tried to introduce on neutral territory, leashed, etc but it did not turn out well. Sparky (dalmation) was very grumpy and she bit Coco in the lip and put a puncture hole right through her top lip near the back of her mouth where the two lips meet. Coco was yelping and sparky wouldn't let go, finally my sister in law got sparky's attention and she let her go but we had to keep them seperated the entire time we were there. That was not pleasant and not fair to either of them. I was disappointed about that because I would really like to visit more often but I don't feel comfortable going under those circumstances. Even when they had Sparky shut up in another room, she'd stand at the door and growl and scratch and do everything she could to get to Coco. So...we learned an unfortunate lesson there, we can't visit with Coco so I doubt we'll visit very often. Other than that tho...we had a nice holiday and lots of good food. I hope you all had a nice turkey day too.

Aww poor CoCo!!! I feel so bad for the poor baby! She had to be terrified... I hope that she won't get agresive towards other dogs, since she's been attacked by one... Maybe it wont be that bad.

 

[Tyshart]

My parents have an old yellow lab, who doesn't like change period, much less to bring a dog into her house. At first when Tyson was a puppy Heidi (lab) would run to the basement, that's where she sleeps, and we won't see her until supper time. And when she was up stairs, if Tyson got 5 feet from her she would growl or snip at him. Luckily she never made contact. But we were just there for Thanksgiving, and I think because Tyson is older and doesn't bounce around all that much anymore, Heidi will tolerate him. She will stay up stairs with the rest of the family, and Tyson has learned his limits. So they can co-exist together. So hopefully, when your pup gets a little older the dalmation will learn to give a little ground too. Maybe even visiting more often will get the other dog to warm up. Just some suggestions.

Kiss that babies wound for me. Poor thing.

Way to go CoCo.

Clover did great as well. We drove about 1600 miles between Wednesday and Sunday (from Los Angeles, to New Mexico), and Clover was wonderful in the car - she slept on the floor board behind the driver's seat and only woke up when we slowed down to get off an exit ramp for gas. Then she was happy to stretch her little legs! She was wonderful with the children as well! She made a proud mama, well until she dug a hole in their yard (but what can you do she's 10 months and a boxer!). She only likes Wendy's plain hamburgers, and figured out if she whined while we were ordered, she's get plain hamburgers, and if she stuck her little head up to the window she would get doggy treats!
