Yes, mine love chicken and cheese also, and I still use that when we're around the house, but I was so glad to find DRY treats that wouldn't spoil, that they liked just as much as the chicken. I actually keep a stash of the liver treats in an old mint tin in my purse, just for those "special occasions" :D

Yeah, I do the same thing. Somewhat embarassing to pull a dog treat out of your purse (was going for some Tums).....in front of the parents of a NICU baby I'm taking care of. I told them it was for motivation for the baby to behave. Thankfully they thought it was funny and I didn't end up getting fired.

Wellness makes a good soft treat for training thats wheat, corn free.. They're super spendy though, so we usually use cheese, chicken, or turkey bologna (hubby's idea). He can't have any beef, so no beef liver treats either. I just use string cheese and cut up pieces of chicken for Johann.

Just as a fyi, they have chicken & lamb freeze dried liver treats as well, but they are much harder to find than the beef. The Petsmart by me used to carry the chicken variety, but I haven't seen them for awhile I looked on their website and they do have all three varieties available on there.

Did anyone notice that they recommend 2-5 chunks per day? I thought this was strange, especially since the chunks are all different sizes. I like the idea of cutting them up. When we are training we go through a ton of treats, even cut up I would think we would exceed the recommended 2-5/day.
