Toxic to dogs

It was reported on the news radio station to which I listen in the mornings that Xylitol, a common chemical found in breath mints and sugarless chewing gum, is to blame for 170 dog poisonings in the past year, and two deaths.

I don't know if it's 100% valid, but apparently it's a new discovery, so I thought I'd pass it along.

Wow thanks for the list. Since school is almost out I have been planning on putting several of those in our garden!

So glad I looked before we made our purchases!

toxins to dogs

very informative, thanks for posting. I send a list of toxins to all my new puppy owners, but this list was much more comprehensive than anything I've compiled. Thanks for the info!!!!

Aloe Vera

I see Aloe Vera is on the toxic list. Does anyone know if that is all of the plant or just parts of it? ie: juice as opposed to leaves?

I think it is just the leaves (but not prepared to swear to it LOL).

The Merck Veterinary Manual says "Contains anthraquinone glycosides (barbaloin, emodin) and chrysophanic acid in the latex of the leaves; higher concentrations in younger leaves. On ingestion, causes abrupt, severe diarrhea and/or hypoglycemia, with vomiting in some cases."

Thanks for the list. This the reason I LOVE BW. Every day I learn something new about our babies and their needs or don't needs.

Can boxer dogs eat cheese? my hubby gave bosley a piece of cheddar tonight and he loved it - is it ok to give him more?
