Boxer Insane
I have a friend whose live-in boyfriend has a male boxer 18 months old. My friend has a 2 year old beagle/basset mix. They have talked for a few months now of wanting to mate the boxer with an acquaintence's female white boxer, aged 3. I have done all of the "sermons" on the subject of reasons to NOT do this all to no avail.
I get a call today that the female is in heat so they took the male to "meet" with her last night and they are taking him again a few more times this week.
Now during the conversation I am told that they (my friend and BF) will be given all of the pups minus one that the owner of the female will keep. They will keep one ONLY if it is a male/white, and plan on selling the remaining pups.
As the conversation continues I ask about who is going to pay for the dew claws, dail docking, vet visits, etc and am told something that freaked me out.....
The females dew claws were never done so they probably won't have any of the pups done either....and then the total shocker....the owner of the female says that he will either tie the tails up with rubber bands until they fall off OR take a knife, lay it across the pups tail and then hit it with a hammer, dip the tail in flour to stop the bleeding and the tails will be fine!
So all I could say was "Oh my God". I was in such disbelief I couldn't even respond. But to make matters worse I am told that the BF wants to keep the white/male pup (if they are "lucky" enough to get one in the litter), and NOT socialize him but keep him locked up in a cage nearly all the time so that he turns into a great guard dog that everyone will fear! This dog will not be able to play with the other dogs in the household and not be taken to any locations that would enable him to meet humans.....it will be a total protection dog.....
Again, more disbelief and my only audible and repeatable thoughts were that the BF was being stupid and that I would tell him so.
I was told that the female is an entirely outdoor dog. Weighs maybe 40lbs and is very short. She is not attractive because she is covered in scars due to the fact that other dogs have gotten into the yard and she has been in fights with them.
Of course I was offerred a "free" pup......(which I will not take). The only thing that this possible litter has in it's favor is the fact that the male is a wonderfully spirited boxer. He is gentle, calm, loving, mild mannered and well trained.
Let's just pray that this female is not pregnant.
