DH & I were watching Bayleigh kidney bean last night and wondered if she had a natural tail would she smack herself in the face? Silly question, but just wondering if this happens with natural tailed boxers!

That is a really good question! And when they chase their long tails, do they actually catch them????

I've never seen Greta quite hit herself with it...but I'll admit it does come close! And I can't speak for any others but Greta catches her tail all the time. She makes us laugh each and everyday!

lol... Tug is all natural.. And he can really whip you with his tail... He has come close to hitting himself although I've never seen him actually hit.. And once in a while he will chase it..although he usually reserves all that energy for chasing the cats.

One of my fosters, Bain, has a natural tail. (his pics are in my gallery, BTW) and he is the first dog I've ever had with a tail! Bain had a really rough life early on, so I guess he's not used to kidney beaning and wiggles. So, yes, he has caught himself in the face a few times. But, what's so funny, is when he does it, he turns around and will glare at either Roxy or Bosco, like they did something to him. Most of all, he hits me with it. That thing hurts when it slaps your legs!
BTW - I was talking to another boxer lover last night (a pal that has some of the most beautiful boxers in the world!) He was telling me they just imported a german boy and that over there, you can be heavily fined if you dock a tail for any reason other than a serious medical condition. I found it interesting.

That is too funny! Oh my gosh - lemonade all over the monitor!

Last night on the sofa I was playing with Sonny's tail and he latched onto it and started chewing it. He also uses it to bap Andy as a weapon.

When he wags, it goes around in a circle like a propeller which is TOO funny.

Isis is now a mature lady and understands the mechanics of her tail very well and keeps it out of the way most of the time! It still manages to swipe things of coffee tables and whip our legs. It is such a part of her and can be really expressive - she wags when enjoying a cool drink of water, it gets all crooked and wavy when she does #2, curls up with #1 , and spins like helicoptor rotors when she is very pleased with someone she loves!

It's so funny watching Jazz with her tail. It's true when she gets excited she does smack herself in the face, she sort of has this expression on her face as if she doesn't realise it's her tail getting in the way (still learning I guess) and she blinks lots because she ends up wacking herself in the eyes, but she doesn't seem to care, I think she much prefers to whip us with it though.
Then there's chasing the tail, that's much more fun, she catches it all the time but then she doesn't let go of it, she lies down and starts chewing it so it gets all soggy at the end. Sometimes she chases it so much she gets dizzy and falls over. It keeps her and us amused all evening :)
I love it when it spins in circles too :)
