My rescue boy, Duke, died after a heartbreaking battle with cancer last October - I still miss him terribly and even cry sometimes when I think about him. I knew I wanted another boxer, but was really torn between getting a puppy or rescuing again. For us, it came down to several factors, including me being a little wounded from the cancer ordeal, and being ready, willing and able for a puppy. Now we have our darling little Rex, who has already stolen our hearts. A puppy is a LOT of work, but we are patient and know the hard work will be worth it. On the other hand, Duke came into my life and was an angel from day one. How anyone could have abandoned a dog as wonderful as him still puzzles me to this day. I am very glad my first boxer was a rescue, and would do it again in a second. I also am thrilled with having a puppy now. Both are very different and equally wonderful, rewarding situations. Good luck!
