Thanks Mate

Sandra, you're the best. Thank you for posting to the Rainbow Bridge about my girl. I had just come here to post our loss and was so touched when I saw your note. We are on completely opposite ends of the earth, but you are as close as can be in my heart. Thank you for being there for me.

It was so hard to let go yesterday. We knew something was wrong about 3 weeks ago. First testing showed arthritis, but we felt there was something more. She would cry in pain and just break our hearts that we couldn't make her feel better. Her last few days were really tough. She wandered throughout the house and we'd find her in the strangest places. When I was getting ready for work, I found her standing in my closet. Later, "daddy" found her in the bathroom wedged between the wall and the toilet. In her last day she'd fall over while having fits of pain. She felt bad because she was losing control in the house but couldn't help it. Doc did more tests and after hearing her symptoms determined it was neurological, possibly a tumor in the brain. We felt it was best for her to end her pain and suffering. It was one of the hardest things to do in our life. We sure are going to miss her, she was our first Boxer. Her Boxer siblings, Wilma, Fred and Moose will miss her too.

I have to share something that may seem stupid, but it brought me peace. As her "daddy" was digging her grave, I was with her and talking to her to let her know how much she was loved and how much we'd miss her. I told her I was very sorry for what we had to do. I asked that if she could, show me a sign that she was ok with where she was at. When it was time to take her outside, I went to put on my old tennis shoes as it is very muddy outside. The shoes had been in my closet since last fall. When I put one foot into the shoe, there was something in the bottom. I pulled it off and found one piece of dog food. I think this was the "sign" I asked for.

Princess, we love you and will miss you. Rest in Peace.
