Maddy

Having spent a little time the the army and one of the seargents owning a male boxer I fell in love with breed. I had wanted a dog all my life but thought I had wanted a Labrador little did I know my perfect breed was out there somewhere. My boyfriend had also wanted a dog all his life but didn't like the look of boxers at first so I had to encourage him that they were lovely. We walked into a petshop one day not planning to get a dog not really being able to get one and there was a notice of a local couple who had just had a litre of seven. I of course wanted one straight away but told myself we couldn't and hoped someone else nicer could get them. Then my boyfriend said we could really we could ask the landlord and see if he would give us permission and if needed we would hide her for a little while. Needless to say we went to the breeder and our landlord gave us permission. Now Maddy is here for good and we are looking at getting yet another doggy!!!

birthday present!

My other half and I were thinking of getting a dog and we both always wanted a boxer but after a lot of careful thought we decided it wasn't the right time as we both still travel a lot, not really very good for a puppy.

For my boyfriends birthday last year a friend gave him a picture of a 2 week old boxer puppy and said in a few weeks you can have your present... the puppy! He had gone through his vet (he has argentinian dogos) and found a breeder on the island and had the vet pick the best boxer from the litter (???!!!). As you can imagine I was not too impressed! Firstly we had decided its not the right time for a puppy and the friend knew this, and secondly when we decided the time was right we obviously would have liked to research the breeder and then pick the puppy ourselves. A few weeks later when the puppy was 6 weeks old the friend brought him to the house, who wouldn't love a puppy and we kept him. I was not really prepared for the responsibility but luckily my partner had been a dog owner before and the vet over here is amazing. Now Crosby is about 11 months old and I love him to bits, I hardly travel anymore but when we do the trips are short and he goes to stay with the friend who gave him to us, his house is like doggie holiday heaven, he has 2 dogos, lots of fenced in land and the 3 dogs get on so well and just play and run around all day.

Now I definitely wouldn't be without Crosby, he has such a huge personality, is so loving and funny, he is a really good dog, hates being in trouble (but can't help himself sometimes) and I can't imagine him not being with us.

My boyfriend has a flashy brindle boxer who is 4, Koojeaux, and when we got together, I decided I wanted another one, b/c I just loved Koojeaux sooo much! I had never had a boxer before, and I just fell in love with Kooj the first time I met him. He was about 1.5 years old when we got together. My boyfriends dad got a fawn girl. One of the guys he works with had her, and didn't want her anymore  so he took her. Kooj and Maggie were best friends, and when Maggie went into heat, we separated them b/c she was still too young, about 1.5 years, and by this time Kooj was about 2.5. Well, needless to say, they chewed through a wooden door, there's a big hole in it now, to get to each other, and they had 7 pups. Kooj and Maggie now stay at my boyfriends dads house, so I knew we had to get one of the puppies. I picked out another one, and plain fawn girl, and her name was to be Daisy. But then I found this site, and was surprised at how many boxers on here were named Daisy. Well, I saw my Layla, and just fell in love with her and the little white "L" on her back.............hence the name Layla! We brought her home a little too early, about 6.5 weeks, but BF's dad was going out of town, and didn't want her to be moved all around. She will be 13 weeks Monday, and she is my "little" baby. I can't believe how big she has gotten, in the 6 weeks we've had her. She is a moose!! She tries to get in my lap, and she's kind of heavy now, I'm small, 5'2" about 110, so I can imagine her trying this in about 6 months.........she's gonna squish Mommy!! But, I wouldn't have it any other way!! She is my child and I treat her so!! I am already wanting another one..................BF says no, quite firmly I might add!! Oh well........I'll try again later!!

Boxer Insane
I had decided that i wanted a little dog to keep me company. (allergic to cats) anyhow, i called the pet store looking for a dachsund. they said all they had there were some rat terriers. well, i thought what the heck, i can always go look. so my friend and i went, stopping at wendys for lunch on the way. as we were leaving wendys. my friend penny said, well lets go get your boxer. I said to her, rat terrier, where did you get boxer? she didnt know why it came to her. so we shrugged it off, and went to the pet store, they only had 1 rat terrier left, i was about to ask to look at him when my friend said, hey they have boxers! there were two a little boy and a little girl. well, i asked to hold one, and said i would prefer a female, cause when a male boxer sits, well to be honest, the two things that stand out are the head and the male parts, so she brought out one of the puppies, and i asked questions about adult size and just general info, get this she said that boxers werent supposed to be over 40lbs. HA! anyhow, my little girl just kissed me into submission. And she has been my daughter since then. I look back now and wish i had bought the boy too.

Now i know better than to get a dog from a pet store, but back then, i thought that is where you get them. (lesson learned!)

To make a long story short... I got my precious lylah from my sister in law who decided not to keep her because she felt haveing two pups was too much work.. she has been with me ever since and is almost 6 months old and weighs around 45 lbs... she is going to be a big girl i think..

I bought Sam at a flea market in the Dallas area. I had decided that I wanted a Boxer, and couldn't find any where I live. So while I was visiting my sister over Thanksgiving, we went to the flea market to do some shopping...and there was Sam!! I would NEVER buy another pet from those people but I'm so glad that I have my little boy:)

I almost hit my Elsa on a busy highway. She was crossing the highway, had stopped in the middle of the fast lane, the car in front of me went around her and there I was looking at this horribly skinny dog in the middle of the lane with me going 60 mph. I managed to stop before hitting her with the cars behind me heading to each side of me to miss my car. She was so severely underweight that I don't think she realized where she was or what she was doing.

After several hours of fluids in the emergency clinic, lots of vet visits and tons of good meals, my vet said that she is a beautiful example of a boxer. She is now healthy enough to be spayed . . . yes, the appointment has been made!

All I know is that someone was looking out for both of us on that day and, when I look into her face, my heart soars.

Completely Boxer Crazy
we have 2 boxer girls.

we got buttercup (almost 2) from an ad in the paper close to chattanooga. we got her after being married for 1 month, and she was their only girl pup. her mother and father and uncle :) were all beautiful dogs and all of her brothers were great too. it was night time when we came and buttercup had to be awakened b/c she slept through the commotion of her brothers and mother and father and uncle running to greet us. but as soon as she woke up she was right in the middle of all the action! we bought her and tooke her home that night and i knew my husband loved her when she puked all over his truck on the way home - it was a pretty long trip at night going over mountains and down windey roads :)

We rescued Tes (4) from some friends. her story is a sad one. she had been though 4 homes and was beaten in the 3rd (we think) and was and still is to an extent terrified of people. her 4 th owner just couldn't deal w/ it and was going to give her to our friends. well our friends wanted a dog to be playful w/ them etc. and she of course wasn't and they were going to give her back. it was then we found out that the 4 th owner was going to either drop her off at the pound but was too afraid she would be put to sleep or turn her loose in the woods behind his house. i couldn't handle it and made my husband go pick her up and she has been with us ever since. AND we wouldn't have it any other way-she is the best big sister in the world to Buttercup and she has made 95% progress w/ my husband and i and is just great!!

jezebelle....

i used to work in the vet clinic of a local shelter. one day a 5 week old boxer pup with a broken front arm was brought in, via the shelter. i do not know if animal control brought her in, or if someone personally dumped her there. after getting xrays, and a cast on, she stayed in the recovery room of the surgery suite for a few days. while we were working, we would put her on the table and let her wander about. at the time i was fostering some kittens, and someone else took her home to foster. 2 weeks afterwards, *another* 5 wk old boxer pup came in, with *another* broken leg  this one was a boy, and i told the woman who was fostering him, that i was interested in adopting him...needless to say, the fosters kept him..and i left that job several weeks later. a few more weeks go by, and i get a phone call from the foster co-odinator, saying that she heard i was intererested in the boxer pup..i thought she meant the male, but she informed me it was the female, that i had seen in sugery...i had really wanted a male, but i decided to go back to just "have a look at her" ...yeah right! ;) at this point, she was a 13 wk old, fully healed bundle of energy! i couldnt say no...now shes my almost 2 yr old spoiled rotten baby..not quite all boxer, but i love her to death anyway! :)
