Hi,

I'm just wondering how everyone accquired their furbabies?

I'll tell u my story, I got Rocky the end of Sept. last year. I rescued him through his original owners..who had taken sick. And they were looking for a new home for him. A gentleman my hubby works with knew the breeder who had let him know. Well my hubby always wanted a boxer...and I said "NO"...rocky and i didn't bond well the first week he was here. LOL when he jumped up to play I thought he was attacking me (now i know better)...Well the rest is history..now even though hubby wanted the boxer, Rocky is My shadow and the love of my life.

I have had 4 boxers (3 of them were/are named Rocky!). My first came from a pet store in Athens, Greece. My 2nd and current boxers were bought through breeders. My 3rd boxer was a rescue girl named Zoe and my only white boxer. All my boys have looked fairly the same: fawn, black mask, little or no flash!

My first boxer came from a rescue group in dallas.

2nd breeder in Oklahoma

3rd Hobocare boxer rescue group in Denver. I was fostering her and had to keep her. Never thought we could have 3 dogs but it really isn't as hard as we thought. Four (because of fostering) is quite a handful.

We got our 4.5 month boxer online. i know it isn't the best place to buy a puppy, but we lucked out with our Strider. He's very healthy and has a great temperament. we wanted to buy one right away before we went to japan so that he wouldn't be too young to travel. we couldn't find one around our area so we took our chance online. we leave for japan in aug so he'll be a little over 6 months then.

I have had three Boxers so far. My first one was a flashy fawn named Brandy. She came from a BYB, back when we didn't know there were such individuals or that they have a term for them. Our second we rescued from very some nice people who just did not have time for him. He was a big, leggy, fawn boy with a black mask. His name was Rusty. Our third is Ronin. We found him with a breeder in Ontario Canada.

I just cannot imagine my life without a Boxer! :)

My Harley (fawn female-6 1/2 months) came from my husband's best friend.
My husband got her for me for our 10th wedding anniversary!

My Chloe (white female - 12 weeks) came from a breeder.

They are both just loved beyond measure!

I originally rescued a boxer mix pup and, sad to say, he had to be put to sleep right away. It was a devasting experience. No other dog would do. At least not at first. My husband called rescue places all over the state and they either had full mailboxes or didn't bother to call us back. Then I researched like crazy and realized that a boxer was the perfect dog for me. I bought Cleo at a pet store - fell in love with her immediately after rejecting dog after dog since I wasn't over my Tyson yet. I had her for two months and I loved her so much, I just had to have another one. By then I realized that a breeder was the way to go. I had breeders in CT either ignore my emails, reject me because I didn't have a fenced in yard or tell me they had no puppies. I probably should have waited it out but I wanted a playmate for my Cleo. I almost had a pup sent to me by plane but then figured, what's worse? That or a pet store? I happened to be shopping at a mall and asked if they had any Boxers. They had my baby Jake. He was so skinny, he couldn't even be put out for sale yet. I loved him at first sight. I know now about the puppy mills (didn't at the time) and I now have a fenced in yard. I spoil my babies beyond belief. They bring me more joy than I ever could have imagined. They are my children, without a doubt. I know now that a pet store isn't the way to go but I cannot imagine my life without either of my babies.

I got both of mine through boxer rescues. The first time around it was because I knew I wanted a boxer (I grew up with them), but didn't feel I had the right living arrangement for a puppy. I found out about rescue and ended up with a dog who was absolutely a perfect match for me - my boy Dallas. Then I started volunteering for rescue, including some fostering. Our girl Gracie was our latest foster - she was such a good fit with our family that we decided we just had to keep her! Rescue will be the only way for me to go from now on.

I got Tae through rescue, but not Boxer rescue. I saw a posting on the rescue website for the group VTbxrFan works with (I think) that a non-Boxer rescue had a fawn girl. I sent an email and went to visit, slept on it and decided she should come for a visit. She hasn't left yet and that was 5 mos ago yesterday!

The group I got Tae through is small and the woman who runs it gave me the original owner's info. I spoke with her in March and sent her some pictures. She told me how hard it was for them to give Tae up--she has 3 young kids and they are very busy with the kids' activities. She told me Tae came from a couple that decided to breed their Boxer (BYB), then give the three puppies, all female, away at 6 weeks, so his kids would not get too attached (hmph). I learned she had a white sister and a sister named Brownie who is a richer fawn (Tae is a light fawn). Her original name was Kocoa, since that went well with Brownie--Brownie was adopted by the original owner's coworker.

I have been loved by five boxers and all were thanks to Florida Boxer Rescue. How could I not? Florida is an awful state for abandoned dogs and we have almost 60 in rescue tonight with many waiting to come in! I would fill my house with boxers if it was physically possible!!!! That'd sure be a whole lot of love!

Jagger, was my first, he chose me. He came into a shelter as a stray and had heartworms (as many in FL do). He was neutered, and HW treated by FBR and then home to me! He's the flashy fawn in my avatar, Sonny in my gallery.

Jillian, was dumped at a shelter by her breeders(BYB). I adopted her at nine months. (A year later the family dumped the mom.) I knew she was abused or treated very badly by them and adopted her site unseen. Jillian is my only girl, semi-flashy fawn, better known as Silly Jilly.

Tulley was found in a box on the coldest night in February at four days of age with a brother and a sister. Wonderful FBR volunteers cared for them, feeding them every two hours, and battling their pneumonia, until I could adopt him. Tulley was born two days after Jagger ended his battle with cancer. He came to us when Jilly and I were completely broken hearted, he is my little angel. Raised by human hands, he is momma's little boy. My classic fawn baby.

Gabby was our foster that never left. I was her mommy, so she is my boxer family too. Gabby was dumped at an animal control by her family because she had inoperable cancer. She also had a high positive on her heartworm test. Gabby may have been the best behaved dog I have ever met. She gave so much to me and my furkids in the time we were able to have her as part of the family.

Desi was on "doggy death row" at a local kill shelter and came in as my foster. After an hour bath, he was clean and immediately settled in.... forever. Semi-flashy brindle, better know as Desi-do-good.

I've had the joy of being a foster mommy many times. So somewhere out there tonight I have many children living the good life with their forever families.

But I could't tell the stories half as well as my furkids could, for there is no greater love story than the story told by a rescued boxer. I know each of them would tell of much love including that of their foster parents.
